Picture I copied, when building mine up..

Between top mount, and black plastic bit underneath, I fitted a part of my old shocks.. ontop of tht I fitted one nut to hold all down.

i then done up, and used the other supplied nut to hold the cup down, which is whats poking out in my picture above

Thats what I guessed, but AVO specifically sent me back to nuts per coilover (even sent them off at different times)

Maybe they gave you a spare? Or they want you to put 2 nuts on the top of each shock to lock the nuts together, who knows, lol.

If you were copying the picture why did you add the extra bit, just a general query cause if you added something and its not right then it points to that.
I always like to lay things out in order when stripping something, so that you know when refitting that its all going back on in the correct order

Extra nut could also be a mistake aswell on the suppliers behalf

Dragon, what you said could make sense.

I dount mistake on supplies, as both units sent separate, come back the same.

I added part, as without that (I tried) piston wwould just come through top of the strut when car went back on the ground

Judging by what you've described the additional nut is just spacing the cup upwards hence why it's now sat high. Where they nyloc nuts?

They were nyloc. This is what (and just posted elsewhere the same) is what I'm thinking.

Do you think this could also be the cause, as to why its so bouncy?

I will be changing springs to higher poundage whilst off anway

Ah, I was actually thinking if they weren't nyloc it would back up dragon's theory but as they are then there's no need to have a second nut to lock together.

I wouldn't think that would cause the bounciness, the only problem I could see it causing is a lack of threads for the top nut to be fitted properly but I can't tell from you pics if that is actually a problem.

The top nut is barely on. its on and on tight enough for it not to move.
however nowhere near a normal amount.

and above post was meant to say "they wasn't nyloc" no was

Right, that makes sense then. The second nut is a lock nut.
