That's what I thought however I've heard people say otherwise. I've read that some people just write "C20XE" and send it off

Basically if you just bought a shit block off ebay with numbers on you could give them that & keep the block then that way you know your the only one that has those numbers.

Would that work??

How much tax are people paying that have declared the engine change.

A X16XE is £215 for a year now.

aye it'll be the same tax mark

who was it that said their insurance went down when declaring a xe in their 1400 sport cos it came out of a 'family saloon' (cav)? sure it was someone off here

does it have to be a registered engineer that does the report... my local garage said they CAN do it but wont have anything to do with it for some reason

Depends on insurer whether they want an engineers report or not.

I was with quinn direct when the 1.6 was fitted and they wanted one. They sent out the engineers report form out and no normal garage were qualified to do it,i don't know why because it was basically just a mini MOT so the only place i could get it done at was at vauxhall themselves.

Im with brentacre now and they never asked for anything.

It's just the DVLA that will want a letter head confirming the new CC and engine numbers from what i understand.

So if its the same tax band as the 16 i wont have to send the tax disc off would i? just the log book with some engine numbers and the new CC with a etter head,Thats the way iv picked it up.

So I need the V5 form and the engine number off the block ? Am I best off just re-newing my tax then as a 1litre untill they ask for that engineers report Mark ?
