SAS may have proved themselves in the embassy siege 30 years ago but CO19 would train every week for this.

SAS were the people who dragged those muppets out of their house/flat in Notting Hill after they tried to blow themselves up on trains a week of so after 7/7.
Personally speaking, i'd say that the guy in the pic in the first post of this thread is some kind of special forces. 3 hours to "get them out"? WTF. They'd have known about the situation right away. Regents Park is 1.5 miles away from where it was all kicking off.
Each to their own though.

I'm so out of touch. Don't get these "perks" comments.
Assume it from some PS3/XBox shizzle?!

I just said the very same thing, to a bloke who sits across the room at another desk. I laughed as i said it and he said 'Yeh so is this watch, and pulled his shirt sleeve up'
I was like 'mmmkkkk'

I know the marine division of met police very well for obvious reasons and their armed response units, those guys ate double hard bastards but dress like American SWAT in full black gear, no military colours as in the photo on page 1.
Not sure they're upping their game particularly although they have had several high profile, publicised training exercises alongside the MoD ahead of the Olympics.
Also they're not allowed to double tap anymore, single shots only, if you don't kill or stop a suspect with the first shot, you have to reassess the situation before deploying a second round.
I actually feel sorry for the guys as they come under such public scrutiny, they were showing us some of their non-lethal but also highly discreet methods for controlling thugs and crowds which they now have to do as if they blatantly punch or hit someone with a batton then someone somewhere will have recorded it on a mobile and regardless of what happened on the lead up, the officer in question is always shown to be the one at fault

When I did my Specials training our instructors for self defence/baton/CS/Unarmed combat were from Cheshire's Special Op's team and were hard bastards not to be messed with. During demo's on holds etc they made grown men cry.
We did our training in a big warehouse where they do the riot training etc. Some of the kit was awesome.

Not really. If you lot want to believe that its the SAS, fill your boots. I'm telling you that they're not, as CO19 are more than capable of sorting something like this out

No Shit, if you put someone into a hold and apply full pressure it is going to hurt. especially if you are not that flexible or have any pre-existing injuries

A multitude of reasons. Mainly experience. How can YOU be sure that they're the SAS? Just because they're not wearing Met uniform?
