If I had £10k to chuck in for the initial surge I would, then bail back out.
They're not daft, the original team have ridden the bubble and are bailing. Reckon a lot of baths are going to be taken on this one. Social media is bubbletastic at the moment, $1bn for Instagram being a brilliant example.

If this was a couple of years ago, then i wouldve jumped straight on it. But surely its reached its peak now? I'm not a fan of FB anymore, theyve scrammed that much shite into it it runs slow as hell on my work PC, my laptop and my phone. Quite a few of my friends have deleted theirs as it seems to be turning into peoples online diarys and a place to beg for attention or sympathy.

Facebook's only gone public because even they can't seem to figure out their privacy settings.
I'll get my coat...

Lost $11bn in the first few hours, although it's steadily been climbing since lunch. Be interested to see what it reaches come closing.

Any bets on what it'll be come closing (10pm GMT)?
Did read a few blog articles stating the stock wikk sky rocket and reach $100 in the first day but i think that is highly unlikely
I'm going to say - $60

Did any see about bono and facebook which sounds weird. But he invested $56 million and now worth just shy of $1 billion so hes now the richest performing artist so the paper said.

IIRC (i could be wrong) Elevation Partners (ie: Bono) invested a lot more into it than that, something like $200m. But it's extremely impressive considering Elevation Partners was getting stick about investing in FB and how their investment would fail like their previous investments (Palm, Move.com etc).

You'd need to buy a fair few to make it worth and if it's to make money then there are better stock than FB.

I think the big difference between those three is
Apple has a proven business model
Google has a proven business model
Facebook has a business model and is proposing to make a lot of changes to increase the business side of it and there are still questions about this.. perfect example is ford pulling all its advertising as it was not returning the forecast results. Also IMO the key to face books success has been the lack of business. If suddenly the top 3/4 items on your timeline are businesses paid advertising it will start to piss people off.
It probably is a fairly safe buy but still there are always risks with these sorts of companies.

Mark Zuckerberg is one of the 25 richest people on Earth after shares of Facebook Inc. (FB), the world’s most popular social networking company, rose in their first hours of trading.
The company’s shares rose 7.9 percent to $41 per share at 12:45 p.m. New York time, pushing Zuckerberg’s net worth to $20.8 billion, a fortune that would place him 23rd on the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, ahead of Amazon.com Inc.’s Jeff Bezos.
not bad that
i don't really understand stocks and shares so i'm guessing that's the valuation of his shares at the moment? he hasn't actually got that money until he sells the shares?
if the value of the shares go down then he could lose out on billions?

I reckon you're right Ben, strange I was just looking at the Forbes list as well.
When you look at the billionaire Forbes list and the companies of the people that are on it, you realise how big FB/Mark Z is!

Closed 1% up on the opening @ $38.37 which is a bit lame; certainly going to make next week interesting.
