Why anyone would spend more then £20/£30 on a watch is beyond me.

Not going to apologise, but yes, I would like to a new watch and given the other portfolio managers on here (plus the opportunity to be controversial) thought I would ask the question here.

10 pages . As I always say buy the fucking thing YOU want . Am amazed this site if full of people with apparently lots of money yet can't make their own fucking decisions . Also if you have 5k to spend you know the market otherwise you must be a halfwit

I'd get a Raymond Weil Freelancer and put £2k in the bank.

P.s. Do you know anything about watches? It seems a bit odd that you want to spend £4k if you don't know anything. I would imagine most people that don't know anything about watches would just find one they really like regardless of price. Unless you just want to be able to tell people your watch was £4k?

I would never spend that sort of cash on a watch!

I reckon £300 would be my tops.

Congrats on taking my bait. What's funny? I could understand John wanting to spend that sort of money for example, but if my mum said she wanted to spend £4k on a watch I would think she's an idiot.

I wasn't mocking, I just wondered why he opted for a £4k watch specifically.

I wasnt offended either.

Yes, I know watches and I have owned 'luxury' watch brands before now but not spent this much and knowing others on the site - asked a few simple questions. Being in Geneva last week opened my eyes up to the vast array of brands, some of which I was aware of but never looked into in any detail.

I didnt want to bait with the thread, but its an internet forum which has varied content. Some people drive more expensive cars than others, some have bigger houses, others have different beliefs, priorities and background. What I do is all of my own choice without trying to score internet points.
Maybe I should tell the time using my phone, drive a Corsa B XE and earn £14k per year - but I dont.

3CM - cotton wool kid? Ay?
