ok so got my knuckles back from being machined, iv had knuckles from an early corsa machined as iv changed to early type ball joints and didnt want my arms sitting 10mm lower, the difference between early and late knuckles, hence the different style ball joints (flat and kinked). iv had them machined to accept the larger audi quattro bearing, which will then let me run non machined 2.0 hub flanges as i have heard of loads of peeps breaking machined conversion hubs and didnt really fancy chancing coming off bad for the sake of a few hundred quid!
The knuckles, late type on the left, early on the right..
i got the knuckles from a breakers near me and they were pretty rotten to say the least, so i gave them the vinegar treatment, proper undiluted stuff from the chippy!
poppeed em in the bucket..
got no pics of the after bath lol. cleaned up not too bad, not amazing either, had to be painted almost straight away as started to rust so lashed them up in hammerite hammered black..
then i had them machined out to take the bigger bearing..
also had the bottom step of the new hub flanges machined smaller so as it sits flush with the bearing.
you can see what i mean in these pics..converswion hub at top, new hub below (before maching)
before machining..
after machining..
you can also see here, why the conversion hubs are no good..
conversion hub..
2.0 hub..
the bearings, audi quattro, oe part number 321498625e
then got them all pressed together at a local garage, jobs a goodun
will get them fitted asap

Had a bit of time this weekend so went over to the garage and thought I'd get the gearbox's swapped over, was gonna replace clutch and put my flywheel on but have had so much to pay for this month, getting married in may and a honeymoon to the Maldives means a skint Mitch for a while lol so thought have gone with the old sayin 'if it aint broke, dont fix it' lol and thought id just get the new box/quaife diff in so at least I can get to trax/Coombe.
Some pics.
Old box out..
Whilst it was out I took the opportunity to stiffen my mounts a little using a bit of tiger seal..
And to paint the front gearbox mount cos it was rotten..
And my driveshafts..
Whilst that was drying I pissed about with the linkage as I was running unmodded (short) linkage with nylon bush's but the linkage chip gave me with the box was the longer one to account for the 10mm gearbox mount spacer but standard bush's so swapped everything about and added the new metal linkage rod..
Old linkage..
Removed the nylons..
Put them in the new linkage..
Got the rod to length (10mm longer) and finito..
Then got it bolted back together, didn't take long at all seeing as I had to sod about with setting the gears and that!
Haven't driven it yet as am still waiting on some rose jointed track rod ends I ordered from compbrake last week and iv also got some of these coming..
Should hopefully have all the bits this week to get her back on her wheels then I can finally get all the geometry set up and get out and test my new lower suspension set up and gearbox out..can't wait!!

Got down the garage today so had a lil play with fitting the r/jointed track rod ends, because iv changed over to all early corsa gear iv also had to buy early track rods as the early hubs are slightly longer where the tre's bolt to meaning with the early hubs and late track rods I was getting a lot of toe in even when cut down and wound right on.
So got some early rods..
Removed old rods..
Cut off 15mm of thread from new rods so I can get adjustment both ways..
All back together
Haven't done the rod ends up to the hub yet as still waiting on ball joints, which il hopefully have at the weekend..(cough cough jonboy) then I can get her set up and get booked up on a couple of track days before the real shit weather kicks in!

Picked up a broken headlamp when passing the breakers yesterday as want to make an air duct to the bodies, was gonna just remove the glass etc but kinda thought sod it, il spend some time on it with some fibreglass etc and make it look cool..
So started with this..
Took it apart
Was gonna have it like this with the 2 sections
But didn't really know how I was gonna do the indicator side of things so cut it up a bit more lol
I then glued the front back on to the casing using a hot glue gun, just to hold it in place whilst I f/glassed it up.
Then got the fibreglass out
Let that go off a bit then got it to this stage..
Will get all the fibreglassing finished tomoz, then it's a case of a lot of sanding and shaping, should look pretty cool when it's done.

Did a bit more on the headlight duct tonight, got most of the fibreglassing done, maybe a few little bits to fill in tomoz as I'd rather have the f/glass in there than loads of filler, want very minimal filler in there tbh as don't want it to start cracking plus f/glass is a lot stronger!
Started to build it up, really starting to take shape now
This is how it's been left tonight..
Also made up an extension at the rear for the ducting to join to as was very minimal room before.
Again hot glue gunned it in position then f/glassed it all in for strength
Ducting should sit on that lovely with a jubilee clip/cable tie.
Tomoz il be starting the sanding/filling which should be fun...
