Brilliant.
On another note, I'd be bored as fuck still driving that robot round looking at the same shit all day everyday. What have we actually learnt from all these billions spent that will benefit us as a human race other than that Mars is boring.

..... can mars support life?
... has mars ever supported life?
..... is there life on mars?
Millions of things can be learned!
I dont get these folk that would rather sit in the back of their cave (you know, back in the days when we were standing hairy monkey types) because 'out there' was boring compared to watching their mate doing some cave painting type stuff
Progress, Exploration, Adventure, because we (mankind) can!

Have we actually learnt the answer to any of those things?
And jsut because you can do something isn't an arguement for actually doing it.

Apart from controlling a remote controlled car on mars being epic, space exploration gives research on loads of materials and technologies that eventually filter through to normal products.
If nobody went to space or done anything exciting, the next iPhone would be even more boring, they'd just call it a 5S and not bother giving it inductive charging.

You also do it to find out for sure that you can.
Projects like these also help develop our technology. Google will tell you how much cool and often basic stuff was developed as a result of space travel. There doesn't have to be an immediate outcome for something to be beneficial.
