Its the opposite, special characters do make a big difference. Password length is more important though, although not if the words you choose are in a dictionary.

Also - correcthorsebatterystaple is good but its not 2^44, I'd have it closer to the size of your dictionary to the power of four, 50000^4 which is somewhat smaller.

That web site is also not really that accurate, reckons 13 thousand years for oxyphenbutazone when in fact a good Scrabble dictionary is only just twice as expensive as a four letter lower case plaintext which is fractions of a second.

Those sorts of things should run it by a dictionary instead of just doing exponentiation on the characters.

All academic of course, you'd have to run that many requests and you'd be shut down by the CS firewall long before you got half way through that. Or you could acquire the hash and process it offline but its salted server side anyway, which means even if the CS users don't use secure ones, the server makes them more secure before storing them.

Finding the Post-It note with it written on is usually quicker.
