i once had an issue with the bolts came loose that bolt the pickup pipe to the oil pump, and was sucking air instead of oil.
best whipping the sump off and having a nose

Haven't got that far yet, doing the rings aswell so took the head off first

My mates c20let did that after a full rebuilt! Well worth checking

you'll find out whats up soon as you get sump off. ive seen allsorts of nasty things such as oil pick ups fallen of and paper towel fored down dipstick into sump at a show sucked up on to pick up pipe starving oil flow.
