Everyone right. You wouldnt just buy a new car and not check insurance first. So why would you convert a car not knowing the extent of the insurance premium. I went and looked at the corsa i had and fell in love, and as soon as i got a decent qoute i snapped it up and went to buy the car.

I think it's a bit different for a normal (albeit performance) car though, rather than something that is effectively a custom built car.

This. Calling everyone 'keyboard warriors' because you cocked up your insurance FTL.

But anyway, £4500 was too expensive five months ago, but you assumed that one years extra NCB would drop the price enough

Right so a cyclist riding into the side of my car and shouting abuse at me for no reason, then phoning the police and saying I ran him over is my mistake is? So when people comment on a thread that have no positive input to the subject and have a general attitude without knowing the situation are keyboard warriors!! And yes I bought being 20 now with ncb would drop it to 3500 which is affordable! So get out of my thread of you don't have anything positive to say!?

This tbh. I did my conversion without checking insurance. Came out at 2800 untill I got 1years ncb and it came down to 1950. So yes 1 years ncb can make a difference. That was with brentacre
Also I have 2 crashes. One because a woman drove into my parked car and wrote it off. One because a woman wanted a holiday so slammed on at a round about when no one or nothing was comeing.
Sooooo tbh if you've got nouthing nice to say don't say anything springs to mind. Also don't give out shit on a thread and not expect any back

Getting 1 years NCB when you have none will help. I was on about going from 1 - 2, 2 - 3 etc, as it won't make much difference. And I didn't say the accidents were your fault, I said the fact that you didn't check insurance properly before going ahead with the conversion was your fault.

So, calm down dear, its only the Internet.

So as you've stated here the year would have made a difference which is why I've done the conversion! Plus of the insurance is ever unaffordable I will get a daily! I'm calm mate just the way you put it was clearly not a helpful way really was it!

But you said that you had 2 years named driver NCB, so you would have had 1 before. And named driver NCB won't be as useful as your own NCB.

What I also stated was, an extra years NCB if you already have some won't help much, whereas if you have none whatsoever, then getting your first years NCB will help.

And if you get a daily, and have to insure that as well, you're still going to be spending a fortune.

People commenting on threads when they don't even know the story behind it piss me off! If
You read replies above, people state that thy have been insured!

you are more of a fool than I thought then. Other people do not have the same driving history, job and post code as you...

as for not knowing the story, tell it. please, we want the full sob story of how you cannot insure your 2 ltr as you were driving to fast but "it was a safe place to do so" or you parked incorrectly and "the copper was being an arse" - how ever you tell the story, the facts remain you have 5 points, an XE and no insurance. Enjoy looking at it through your bedroom window

He's not asking for sympathy for why he got points. Stop being nosey and trying to make him look like a dick. No need.
If he can afford 3.5k then that's his choice.

£3.5k to insure a Vauxhall Corsa is just crazy though. Borderline insane.

If thats affordable to some people, surely you could insure a much much better car for the same sort of money, probably less.

I would say the rear world dosn't exist to those who think £3.5k to insure a 13 year old Corsa is fine.

Thanks nic and gav! Don't have to explain myself and my points generally were for no fault of my own but you carry on passing judgement! As said I'm not asking for your concern or opinion, yes the fact remains I have points, I am young and I would like to see if there is a way of getting cheaper insurance!

And I don't think 3500 is a reasonable price and I could probably insure and bigger performance car but I'm in the same boat of all modified corsa owners! I've spent alot of work and money on it and I enjoy it! It's not the best thing in the world but hey ho!

All depends on what you want to drive doesn't it really. A lot of people would rather spend 3k on insuring somthing more luxurious but Chris wants to spend it on his pride and joy. I say go for it Chris if you can afford it and that's what you really want
