Don't drink it with water, drink it with milk else your cheating yourself out of protein. Don't drink flavoured as you're paying more money for less protein.
Man up, drink it down, it'll be ok I promise.
If you're going to have that attitude man up and don't use tubs of powder to get your protein.
Get it from organic, natural sources like you are intended to.
I do that too. I get about 80g protein from food, lentils, cottage cheese, eggs, chicken, turkey. Then the 80g from Whey, which is still a natural source, so yeah, nice one
I wasn't saying what you are doing is right or wrong, I was saying you are giving advice based on information which goes against what you are doing yourself.
Diluting whey with water isn't 'cheating yourself' out of anything and neither is buying it flavoured.

I was under the impression that taking a protein supplement was to boost the protein in your diet to work alongside your training. To maximise what you are looking to intake it doesn't make sense to cut corners by substituting milk with water and paying more money for reduced protein by buying flavoured. At the end of the day, it's not drank for the taste, it's drank for the benefits.
I'm not disagreeing with what you're saying or trying to come across as standoffish, I just think if you're going to take a supplement, maximise its benefits.

Milk isnt expensive unless you're absolutely on the breadline, buy a few pints of beer a week, per pint thats a shitload more money. We're talking 10g of protein per 300ml of milk, thats not to be sniffed at considering the average 25g scoop of unflavoured protein shake is only about 23g of protein.
3 shakes a day and you've got an extra 30g protein + your extra calcium, if you have it with milk, I don't see why people would even consider having it with water based on that?

but your'e paying 90p roughly for those 30g
vs roughly half, 45pish for 30g of protein in whey
by your logic i may aswel not by the milk, spend 70p on a tin of tuna and save 20p + your extra omega 3, epa, dha etc..

Imagine trying to mix the tuna with the protein and trying to drink it though

It's amazing how many different view points there are when it comes to supplments and Gym stuff.
I was told by one of the trainers at my gym that it's best have your shake with Water straight after your work out as your body digests it quicker. Milk is better for a slow release so good to take before bed.
Now that may be complete bollocks but everyones different

I use this:
http://www.discount-supplements.co.uk/sports-supplements-whey-protein-optimum-nutrition-gold-standard-whey-2-27kg
works out as good value for money as holland and barrets buy one get one for a penny deal. Best stuff I've used over the years.
From what I've heard about milk protein shakes is:
Drinking it with milk makes you absorb the protein slower. Better for before bed.
But drinking with water means you absorb it a bit quicker, best for post workout and breakfast.
That was from my friends brother, who was a personal trainer at St. andrews bay hotel. Might be right, might be bullshit but i normally drink it with water anyway
