3 points and fine mate i think they only offer a speed awareness course if it is your first offence and if you are within a few mph

Not quite correct Gary; you can only take a speed awareness course once within a 3 year period; if you turn down the offer on a first offence, you may still be offered it for a subsequent offence.
The limits of the speed for which you'll be offered a course are set by the local constabulary as well; I was told when I did my course that Staffordshire is set at 38-44 in a 30 zone to be offered the course; above is a straight fine and points, below and they don't pursue it.

Think he was referring to points on the license, Rich, not the speed awareness.

I was told the same thing. You go on a secure database for 3 years and if caught speeding again in those 3 years, you get some points.

It'll be 4 years since the last time I got caught out in Sept if that makes any difference.

I would assume you can go on the course. Cost me £79
I found the course very useful to be honest.
Just find it strange how Munchie who was a very similar speed to me got points and a fine. I got caught in Liverpool as well.
Maybe a copper on here can shed some light?

Like I said, I think I'll take the points anyways.
I work 6.30am til 4pm so won't have the time to go on the course.

Find the time. Believe it or not the course is actually pretty good. Amazing how much stuff you forget and the other people in the room don't know
