For the right money/prospects it's well worth it
This is what I'm trying to convince myself.
Wedge more money, more responsibility, more involving projects. If it was half an hour away, ace.
That or stick with the simpler but boring and less well paid position which I've been getting a bit bored in. Easy money for sitting on my ass, but at 25 not great for my career!

New job is 37 miles each way, all motorway though and takes about 45 minutes. But I get a company car and fuel card so doesn't make odds to me.
Old job was 15 minutes down the road but I moved to progress further in my career, plus it was quite alot more money lol

Our Office is currently 30 miles away from mine, but will be almost 45 in a couple of weeks time when I move.
The office isn't my permanent place of work though, sometimes I do over 24hrs/1000s of miles to go to work...

Use to do 50 miles each way (Andy - Over to Cheshunt way from just outside town), which took roughly an hour on a good day. Was ok for the first few months and then started to grate after that, mainly due to number of sheer wankers you get driving at that time in the morning.
Although it did get a little worrying at times as you tend to drive on 'autopilot' and when you step out the car you can't remember what happened in the last hour or so
Andy - Is there the option of working at home at times or do you need to be in the office? It usually makes things a little easier if you can.

My new manager would like me to call tomorrow so I'm going to ask this. Its going to be a mixture of surveying/admin/project management so hopefully yes for certain tasks.
At least leaving at 4 I miss Cambridge traffic.

I've done 30-40miles each way for nearly 7 years. I use the 1-1.5hrs commute either side of work to unwind and by the time I get home, any stress from work is long gone-I then have the hour in a morning to do any preparation

I was doing 45 miles each way for 7 years. I didn't mind it for 6 years but I then got fed up with it.
My office is now at my house Still do around 1k a month but I'm happy with that.

If you're heading over to Cambridge then it'll be the Black Cat roundabout onwards (A1/A428) that'll be the killer. Going through Moggerhanger/Potton is an alternative, no idea what's that like in the mornings though.

Girlfriend drives to Brampton and the Black Cat seems to be ok early enough but the A428 before the dual carriageway is a nightmare.
We drove the route this afternoon and came back via Wrestlingworth/Potton and it took exactly the same as going A421/428 but does involve a few towns and villages.
Difficult when you don't know the state of the traffic before accepting the job
