My Vauxhall locking wheel nuts came with a code on a piece of card, you have to give them that code to get a replacement

If you knew fine well another random key from another random car wouldn't fit why wouldn't you have told him that instead of trying to send him on a mission of futility?

Ford have 12.

Although you're correct, you could go to a breakers and get a few to come home and try, it's taken me nearly 50 Pumas to obtain the full Ford set. Not only do you often get keys which you've already got, but not every car has the key in it.

Having said that, you could probably widen the search to other VW which if you were in a big scrappy might give you access to the same number of cars. Assuming they leave the keys in there and people haven't already sharked them.

Edit - or did you think there was only one key? In which case

No, sell the duplicate sets.

They go for £10-£15ea which is more than if you tried to sell a set of 12 in one go.

I've got the full set for myself, just sell any extra ones.

There's about 5 different types I think. Sure there colour coded. Each car gets a colour. Unless that's fords. But still. Vw will replace it
