Because petrol and tyres aren't cheap for driving to work in traffic.

These people who buy a brand new car to appear to save money don't make sense. At £200 quid though, that's 1 235/18/35 tyre.

I'm about £15 a day in fuel and run 255 18s on a pretty average salary and manage ok. Only way I'd go for a second vehicle would be if it was a bike

Not necessarily but possibly. I wouldn't want to drive a low mileage example of any car everyday, they low mileage means something to me. I'd rather put miles on a £200 ford. There are quite a few reasons for wanting a runabout.

My commute's going from a 20 minute walk to a 40 mile round trip on 1st October. I'm sorry I'm not rich enough to be able to afford a 911 and sorry I'm not rich enough to be able to spend £300 a month on super juice.

The reason I bought it has nothing to do with the Boxster being eligable for a classic/limited mileage policy which requires it to not be your main car, of course.

In all seriousness, driving your pride and joy everyday only ends up giving you a headache. Worrying about car park dings, stone chips, pricks crashing into you whilst not concentrating etc.

This. The Boxster has a nice array of dents in it from the work car park which I need to get sorted and some twat drove into the side of it on a roundabout a few months ago. The claim is still on going and causing me a right headache

Boxster isn't too bad on tyres either, the fronts on mine are from '08 - they're probably it's second set. The rears, well that depends on how you like to take roundabouts and corners
