Regardless, I'm sure it'll be an awesome car and he'll love it!

Reckon you'll get to drive it?

I very much doubt it pal. Being 21 I doubt I'd get anywhere near even temporary cover on it!

Perhaps I can sit on his lap and steer

Really?

Finance normally means you pay more in the long run.
Why use finance and pay more if you can afford the pay it off in one and pay less?

Cash flow and not tying up everything in depreciating assets

Nics corsa will be faster. The shell only weighs 100kg's due to it being full of rust and holes.

I doubt he'll use it for track days as he's getting on a bit now and think he's getting on through a bit of a midlife haha. & yes, its the same reason footballers get they're big expensive cars on finance. Your tying up a lot of money in something that depreciates

I wouldnt have a clue on this one mate. The last couple he's financed through the company have been 0% flat rate subsidy deals. This one maybe the same, but I'm not 100% certain!

He's had a range rover for a few years now which he had a balloon on. Over 4 years with a 20 grand balloon at the end of the agreement. I think some deals work out cheaper than others in certain situations, depending on age & cost of car etc

Paid half in cash & half on finance son. some people have decent jobs

Decent job? And still using finance at the age of 51?

[Edited on 20-11-2013 by BluKoo]
He's a director for a finance co.. Just using the product the company provides? borrowing over 15 grand over 18 months

BluKoo - I'm assuming you know what rate of interest he's borrowed at before making a statement like that? And know what rate of interest he's getting on money sitting in the bank/savings? I would of thought it made sense to have the money in an account rather invested in a depreciating asset, No?

Mate, I'm sure your Dad knows what he's doing. Just thought that was a pretty low/dig about someone they know little about.

Well unfortunately I dont know what rate he's getting mate. All I know is that he's picking the car up next monday, I've asked him how much its set him back & he's told me he's borrowing 15 from the company over a year and half. I've never been one to ask what rates of interest they're bank provides either

I was thinking the same. For some reason I'm being asked about my old mans bank accounts!

TBH, it's a fair line of questioning when you've only had 2 prior posts on here and then post about a GTR. You wouldn't have done the same if he'd got a 1998 1.4 Astra.
