That sounds like any dog ever before it's trained.

The one about being off the lead etc, I was miles behind.

That doesn't sound like the best dogs in the world then!?

If they're brought up right and trained properly, why can't you get them to listen? Ill tempered breed?

you wouldnt know they were there, honestly, when people come round and ask if we just have mum and we tell them, no we have half brothers, sisters, aunt as well as dad, there face is a picture dont get many ask if they can meet them all, but we make sure they meet mum and dad and leave covered in dog hair, because if they cant stand being covered when viewing the pups then they aint going to like it with their own

its a case of, whats in it for them, they are very intelligent and will only do something if it benefits them of course they can be trained sit, lay ect, just dont expect them to do it 100% of the time

and defo not ill tempered, the chukchi people who first discovered the breed bred them for their temperment as well as working ability, as it could drop to below -50 in the winter, they used the dogs to keep the kids warm

You realise you are describing any type of dog.

I find the generalisations don't work.

I agree with chloe, mam and dad have had 6 now and everyone has bolted as soon as they get a chance...

Great dogs though... Never had a single moment when i though they were anything but happy and loving...

However id still never leave them alone with my daughter... Although they get locked up when shes in the room

Hardly the best dogs in the world then.

It not really a great dog if you can't let them off a lead and they don't listen. In fact, thats a terrible dog, and another reason huskies should be in their natural countries.

If I had to act this way with my mutt, it would kinda defeat the point in having a dog.

tend to agree with daimo. never being allowed off their leash is not really what they were bred for.

Any dog can be trained to be let off a lead.

These ones running off seem to be where the owners have 5-6 or more dogs, which says to me they don't have the time to dedicate to training them.

Took me a around a year of nearly everyday to train my one dog and even now three years later it still takes effort to maintain his obedience. No way you can do that owing so many dogs.

I like huskies but I couldn't have a dog that you couldn't let off the lead. I like being able to let them have a run around when you go out

Very cute We are on the waiting list for our first puppy and really can't wait. The litter isn't due until February though so we won't be bringing him home until April it seems such a long time to wait but it's quite an uncommon breed in the UK. (Portuguese Water Dog)
