ah, so you need a dongle with axternal antenna connector like a huawei e150 then use one of these outside the garage

I've got a doorbell with a SIM card in it at a customers house that rings you if noone is in, had to use a antenna to get a decent signal for it... was easy to install though, hole through the wall and two screws to hold the antenna and mount up

I forgot about an actual satellite connection, if you don't need massive data allowance, the costs aren't actually that bad.

Got it today, works really well.
At the moment I've got a giffgaff sim in, after inputting a few details APN etc its connected, dishing out IP's on DHCP and wirelesss all secured. Gives me details on signal strength, operator, connection type, bytes rec/sent, very very cool.
Going to pick up one of these for today/tomorrow:

So had a little test last night with the device propped outside the window, got 0.37mb down and 1.27mb up, latency around 150ms~
So much better then using my phones antenna for 2G inside the house, looking forward to rigging up the big one

Surfing and downloading isn't bad, it's an 8 meg one at that site iirc.
I even regularly use VNC over it and it's better than some ADSL connections.

jesus wept you are dealing with some pretty shitty ADSL connections if VNC over 750ms~ latency is better.

ADSL is that bad willay, barely gets a connection at all, less than 200k sync speed.
