English was my only bad grade,
Maths, science and extended sciences I had a's and a*'s,
And b's and c's in other subjects.

So it wasn't like I didn't go to school or try,
Just terrible at English, and the fact I accepted to do extra lessons at college proved I was committed and wanted to improve on it.

I also did suggest redoing his gcse's...
So wAsnt suggesting winging it at all.

If you're not happy in your current role and feel you need a change then do it, you'll only regret it in years to come when/if you no longer have the choice.

Wages will be shitty, and you'll be worked hard but you may end up feeling like this is what you are supposed to be doing. So in the end it would have all been worth it.

Not sure lying is the best way to start a new job, best to be upfront and honest I always find. Your employer will also respect you more for it.

You will need to do you exams for both

Usual character then.

I know you're only trying to help Flaffy, and I'm not een saying you're wrong, but I have to try. Apprentice wages on this scheme aren't much less than I'm on. I don't want to progress in the bank. Dads been a mechanic for 42 years and last week he was taking lights off his car to put in oven and his week he's fitting strut braces,

I did my apprenticeship in panel beating and dabbled in the mechanics, to echo was has been said..it's massively shit, you currently work in a bank and must earn a decent crust to be running a high power project car so you must have a brain, put it to good use and don't work in a cold, dirty, low paid and unhealthy environment.

Best thing I ever did was get out when I was 21 and start work in an office.

I have a second income that I'd rather not go into (not drugs before somebody makes a big funny)

I realise you're all wanting me against it. Bank pay really isn't good unless you're not in a branch..
Money isn't everything to me, and I have no other real direction I want to go in. This comes to mind instantly, EVERYTIME.

If you can afford to take the risk and do something you want to do, do it I'd say.

@ people telling him what to do with his own career, was that the question he asked?

I doubt they will actually check, so go ahead. There is never any harm in doing an interview if called in. Go for the interview, ask questions, don't be afraid to ask decent questions about the job, progression, where they see you in a few years. Don't ask about pay, put across that the job is what interests you over money etc. Show real enthusiasm and interest, it goes a lot further than a few grades.

You may not get the job, or it may be your dream job, but going for the interview won't hurt, and if it isn't what your after or you don't get it, then you still have your current role and you can carry on looking.

Ignore anyone elses thoughts about what you should or should not do, its your career, not theirs.

Good luck and all that shazzle
