Each to their own I guess. Look on deviantart for some ideas, loads of day of the dead stuff on there, then ask your tattooist to adapt them to how you want them. If they can't then find a better tattooist.
16 hours doesn't seem like long enough to get an entire sleave done. Guess if it's mostly block shading.

No, people judge tribal tattoos because they tend to look shite and chavy; but as you say, each to their own.
And what's wrong with liking a design, be it a tattoo or architecture or art or whatever, because you like it? Why does it need to have a "meaning" or be connected to some emotion or memory?

Just a change in fashions Dom.
Sleeves will begin to look chavvy soon.
I've been planning my sleeve for over a year, don't think it's the sort of thing I'd just fill in with skulls tbh.
I fancy a pin-up model, a few other things, and some shooting star designs I've roughly drawn out to fill in. Colour is a big thing in mine, I dont like the look of black sleeves.

Yeah mine has taken about 3 years so far, filling it with different designs.
You'll be surprised at how large a design you need to fill your arm - obviously if you have twigs then you'll need less But yeah I wouldn't just go filling it with skulls.

Tribal stuff seems a little absurd if you're not a member of a tribe.
Never quite been able to come up with anything significant enough to want on any part of me for the rest of my life, hence me being ink free still.
Had a few ideas floating around in my head for donkey's years, but as it now seems that more or less, the world and his wife have tattoos, it's almost more appealing to have none.

Like saying roses are shit if you aren't a gardener.
Skulls are shit unless you're the grim reaper
Clouds are shit, unless you're a weatherman

Most tattoos are just inline with fashion trends. Which is why TO ME, they have to have a meaning behind them.
Of course, that's just an opinion.

Has there ever been in a time in history where people aren't influenced by "trends" in some manner or another? There are very few truly original people in this world I'm all for creativity and people having freedom to express themselfs however they like, including decorating their body how they see fit. To each their own. He's not asking to tattoo any of us in two weeks, leave him be.

Get something that means something, not some shit you had to ask about on an internet forum!

Kind of agree with generation on this one. I'd never get a tattoo of anything that didn't have a meaning to me. A lot of my mates have sleeves just because they think they look good. And fair enough they might. But later on invite when you've got an arm full of skulls and someone asks you why you had that done, I'd like to be able to tell them something other than "dunno just thought it looked cool at the time"
Tattoos to me are personal things. Not just the name of your girlfriend at the time or the footie team you support. Or a bunch of things that are trendy or "indie" at the time
Speaking of which my mate is about to get the man city crest tattood onto his leg to match the man city Latin writing thing he has going down his arm.... Told him multiple times he's a chav for it..

you said you you get tattoos that have meaning to you
football is a massive part of peoples lives. you only ever support 1 team (most people anyway) so what better reason for a tattoo can you give?

I also believe in getting a unique tattoo, i agree football can be a big part of some people's lives. But getting the crest of your team on your leg, not only makes people assume your on some form of job seekers, but it's also something that's been done millions and millions of times.
I'd hate to get a tattoo, only to find a bunch of people down the pub with the same one.

No tattoo is unique, they all look the same anyway, just a pattern on your arm or wherever. A tattoo having 'meaning' isn't any more valid or worthwhile. No one cares what it means.
