Like a good whisky, but I'm mostly a cocktail guy, so Old Fashioned or Manhattan for me please.
For drinking neat, rum beats whisky many times over imo. Always have two or three nice rums in my bar globe.

Isn't that due to JD themselves labelling it as a Tennessee whiskey?
Ellis, I'll need to get a bottle of Sherry Cask then as this stuff is hugely disappointing.
I've ventures in to the bourbon side of things too and (although not classed as one) bought a bottle of American Turkey - Wild Honey. Very sweet but quite nice. J&B Urban honey however is rather spicy instead of sweet But equally nice!

Tonights selection is an Aberlour A'Bunadh, cask strength so needs a small cube or drop of water but what a lovely dram.

I think it's similar to foods and drinks which have protected origin over here and like the French are with their wines - A Tennessee whiskey is a bourbon which comes from a certain place in the USA.

Funny the original recipe for JD Whiskey is from a UK family that emigrated, lad was in the paper last year with 'proof' it was his family recipe.
Was just looking for some money.

Love the stuff along with Brandy and Cognac, I'm early 30s not 60+ haha.
Dad works for Chivas Regal so I get bottles at staff rates and Strathisla distillery (plus two others) are in my hometown!.
I'm mainly a fan of Speyside Malts and I'm too tight to spend more than £30 a bottle for now.
Highlights for drinking -
Scapa 16yo
Aberlour 12yo
Strathisla 12yo
Glenlivet 12yo
Glenlivet 15yo French Oak
Glenlivet 18yo
Glenfiddich 12yo
Glenfiddich 15yo
Glenfiddich 18yo
Tormore 12yo
Bottles I have that won't be opened -
Revolve Minatures
Chivas James and John blend
That's it so far.
When my dad pegs it I've been instructed to split up his collection with my brother.
Oh, FYI :
Whisky - From Scotland, the good stuff.
Whiskey - Irish, Bourbon, etc, etc.
Only blended Whisky and the likes of JD should have mixers added. Whisky should be enjoyed with a little water or over ice.

Glenfiddich is blinding for the price.
And you get it in most pubs.

To be fair Glenfiddich is a cracker for a 'mainstream' single malt. Sitting drinking Jameson in Schiphol at the moment and it's bloody terrible. Trying to get a standard 12 YO Highland Park here but it's all over-priced travel exclusive nonsense.

I'm really on and off with whiskey. Started out like everybody does on JD and coke, then one night ran out of coke - so forced myself to enjoy JD... I then ventured beyond it and realised JD is like the Stella of the whiskey (whisky) world and had some really enjoyable bottles over the years.
Phased out of it recently though and just had a bottle of Glenfiddich kicking around that slowly got consumed by the missus with coke, but recently had to get my best man a present - and he's massive into his whiskey.
I got him some Glen Ord stuff not having any idea if it was any good - but it was apparently quite rare, and hence more expensive than JD. (By Rare, I mean it's in the "rare" section of a mainstream whisky website )
He's recently tried it for the first time and claims it's some of the best he's ever had - and he's not just a JD bummer so he's tried a few. Off round in a few weeks to sample it myself, quite looking forward to it.
