I remember there being a lot of military at the airport when I went. Also a lot of military guys with guns walking around the naama bay area. It was during the whole uprising time though.

Yeah pretty much the same when we went in 2011 I think. We met a decent bunch of English people though so it was fine.

'rescue' flights have been diverted mid-air. Very odd.

Airport is having difficulties dealing with them, it's a small holiday airport, not Heathrow.

Monarch flew 5 in today from various uk airports, they all seem to be on their way back now along with a few other British airlines.

It's the tens of thousands of bags the UK want them to keep hold of isn't it?

Something like that.

I think i'm getting dalaman airport mixed up with Sharm tbh. Now I think back I remember it being small. Probably similar in size to Stansted.

Yeah, passengers and hand luggage only, nothing allowed in the hold. Bags will be brought back separately.

Amount ot absolute chav British cunts on the news moaning they aren't allowed home yet

They'd be the first to moan if their lives were put in danger. Utter cunts.

Bloke in works daughter is currently out there on holiday, due back tomorrow (no chance). Egyptian airforce have been flying over their hotel in formation every 20 minutes.

Engine failure ruled out. I think the chances of it being an explosive detonation of some sort is looking on the cards at this point, can't see em doing a u turn at this stage.

By all accounts it seems it would be very easy to get a bomb on board. The security was virtually non existent until this kicked off (no surprise they are happy for filming now it's really stringent). Same for ground crew. Reports are it would not have been hard to do.
Probably the safest place to fly from at the moment

Reports of a Thomson plane this summer coming within 350 metres of a missile fired from Egypt in a training exercise. That's way too close for comfort regardless of the circumstances!

My favourite complaint is 'we've had no information' like its some routine thing that the UK can deal with and have a solution to within a few hours.

You're there for weeks mate, get used to it.

Not sure why you wouldn't be back at the pool and sort your flight back when its settled a bit. I certainly wouldn't want to be on the first one, can you imagine the fight to board, its bad enough after 45 minutes in Manchester, 5 days under terrorism threat is going to be everything that is wrong with the west.

Plane full of Russians gets blown out the sky. I recon ISIS had nothing to do with it but are being blamed. Seems like the sort of thing you'd do to get Putin on your side.

Also, Egyptian airport full of people ISIS want to kill, you'd think ISIS would be trying to get at them.
