According to the same post on Strathycruise and Scoobynet, CCTV shows a Red Landrover Freelander towing it out the carpark.
I posted the link to the photo of the car on Strathycruise too.
I hope he finds the car and gets it back ok.

URGENT - Possible sighting
Was driving to Guildford last night. Spotted a white N plate (I think!) Escort being towed south towards Guildford by a LWB blue (E/F) plate Transit. Had bonnet/boot pins and wide arches. Thought I'd post this, should have turned around and followed it!

in reply to Nik phone the number on the very first post of this topic!!
In reply to Munchie - This car is famous in rallying circles, and as said it before Ricky has put 14 long years into building and running the car! including winning numerous championships and the car means a lot to him!!!!!!!!! it is also a full spec tarmac Escort rally car with a great history, u cant replace that!

Latest update guys
Right last nite on the way to Guildford we saw a Blue LWB Transit towing a trailer with a White MK2 Escort in it with no markings going south through Haslemere at about 8pm. Flew past fast so we couldn't turn around to get the van reg. My mate said he thought the Escort it was an 'N' reg (old stlye so N at teh other end not front. Think it had bonnet and boot pins. Sorry that was all we saw. Was just a bit of a coincidence that we read this and saw a MK2 on a trailer so though anything is better than nothing!
Still waiting for that definate sighting behind closed doors.

No more news guys, looks like the longer its away the less chance we have of getting it back.
That is the real car, believe me i navigated in it last year and there is only one word for a car that is an ex scottish forest champion and has been in the same hands since 1975, and can whip the asses of EVO6s and Cossies
AWESOME!!!!!
Think about how gutted you would be.

Latest Update;
REWARD FOR STOLEN RALLY CAR INCREASED
The reward for information leading to the return of Ricky Wheelers rally car has been increased to £3000. Ricky is getting more and more upset at the loss of his infamous car.
The Ford Escort would normally have had the Warrior Engine in place but it was Ricky's wish that his son Mark have a go at the various championships this year and had swapped the Warrior Engine over for a Pinto.
If any of you out there can help, everything will be held in complete confidence, you can either contact Ricky on 07860 242447 or 01355 249792
So e-mail everyone in your address book, tell everyone you know, if offered parts, phone Ricky to check the serial numbers, imagine it was your rally car.........Come on guys....somebody must know something, lets show that the network works and put a stop to this stolen parts market.....and remember the next to go could be yours.
