If you want to make it work you can! I've tried them and they haven't worked as the other guy didn't trust me always the case, or excuse
But if 2 people REALLY like each other then they can do it! Just be careful not to idelise them, you carn't really know the person if you only see them occasionally. I've found talking to people on here and meeting them are two completely personalities, mainly because people portray themselves differently or you make them into something their not and it's a big let down wehn you meet.
This is my opinion and experience but I do believe they can work!

yeah they can work, i live in rotherham and my bird lives in essex, talk about 2 hours a day on phone and see each other every friday sat and sun. things are going great, cos you still get your own space, then really look forward to seein em.

I reckon if 1 of u intends to move in the long run it could work but it requires a LOT of trust and its always gonna b a strain cuz ur never entirely part of that persons life.
On the other hand they can be gr8 if u like to spend loads of time with ur m8s cuz u kinda get the best of both worlds.
Personally i wudnt advise it though > but fair play to any1 who can do it and be happy > depends on wot u want from a relationship.

leni's and transca's comments are spot on IMO
I was with my ex for 3 and a half years, she lived 180 miles away for the last 20 months that we were together - it did work (we split for different reasons) but you've gotta make the effort when you do see each other. To be fair though, you know if it's good because if you only see each other rarely, then you'll really look forward to it, hence having a great time together anyway
Give it a shot I reckon, it could just be worthwhile

my fella lives 50 miles away (or an hours drive down the m6) and i've been with him for 14 months and still going strong.
its good because you get your own space and you tend not to lose your mates because your not with them 24/7. makes seeing them more special too.

I used to see someone who lived in Solihull, which was about 2hours drive away. Didn't last cos he wasn't serious about it. I'd get there and he would either ignore me all day or not even bother turning up. dickhead!
