optimax has a higher RON rating then normal unleaded but i bet he won't feel the difference as his ecu will be mapped for 95 ron so won't have the timing to take advantageof the higher ron.

his car will have a knock sensor. his ECU will advance the timming accordingly. you'll see more power running 98 than 95.

Patrick what does it say in the hand book about petrol. I suspect it will advise 97 but 95 ok but with a power loss


Yea possibly true about 97 ron, but if he has a higher octane over that yes like dayzee said will help stop detonation and will perhaps make run smoother but no perfomrance gains will be achieved vauxhall ecu's do not run on the same fuzzylogic as honda ecu's.
