basically mate - your engine is a 8v... This means you have power and torque low down the rev range.

Even if its at 1.5k rpm if you floor it - it'll accel away, however you don't have that much power up the rev range (hence only 60 bhp)...

basically this means your car will feel really nippy! even though it isn't.

the 1.4 16v on the other hand has power high up the rev range, anything before 3.5k rpm and his car will not respond well.

So if your both sitting there at the lights and you both floor it from standing still, I believe you may be able to 'out spin' him as you call it - but as soon as his car comes into the power band it'd leave yours behind!
