Cybermonkey... if you want a 0-60 time why in hell's name measure 0-62?

62 Is printed in magazines often for european cars because it is equivalent to 100Km/hr and that is what the europeans time.

Also, I accept that using a watch is far from the most accurate method, but it's unlikely to be out by more than a second I would reckon.

Aye but speedos can be up to 10% inacurate.. even if your bestest mate is sitting with his proper Thomas the Tank digi watch its not accurate! get a grip!

"Oh my 1 litre hair dryer is so fast and powerfull and does 0-60 in 3 days or 0-62 in 3 +1/2 days!" Muppet!! :lol

Seriously if you want a fast car or good 0-60 time get a new engine or new car.. dont wast money on a 1 litre..save your pennies and buy a new car!

Seeing there are many cars on british roads are of european/asian origin, i think its a true scale of the speed to 60 if its 62, since then you have a guide to how fast your car is compared to others in the same category. Nevertheless, 0-60 is a crap way of proving the cars capability. Timing from 50-100 for example would be a greater test for the car, and seeing a 1.0 will never reach 100, what a shame!!

Why would 50-100 be a superior test? Most countries have a speed limit well below that so you shouldn't be bothered about the 50-100 time.

Why not just do a 0-70 (=speed limit)

fuck the speed limits, we are not grannies you know. Its not about speed limits, its about the cars capabilities as a good performing machine. If it can accelerate in a good time from 50-100 FOR EXAMPLE, thats a pretty good car, with nice mid/high range power. 0-60 times are entirely biased towards how the car is geared. A car with a 9k RPM redline will cane a car with a 6k RPM redline to 60, not because of the extra power it might have, but because it can stay in gear for much longer, however it might have fuck all torque and struggle to power the car on faster than the other one when reaching high speeds. Thats why.

I take your point, but if someone wants to know their 0-60, why sit and tell them that they are *wrong*, they should measure their 0-62?
