2nd day update
Today had a very slow start...and i didnt really get going until about half one tbh, after i'd retrieved the tie-rods from a breaker. I would be lying if i said i motivaion for the day's work. However, i had the help of my girlfriend Lou where i needed it.
Firstly, some pics of the engine in the bay that i didnt get y'day.
I also trial fitted the inlet and carbs. Turns out its a good job we cut the bulkhead...
Next up was putting the ball joints, lower arms and hubs/shafts all together and on the car... this involved much swearing...but Lou was again a big help where hands were needed.
btw, no i didnt get her to do it all...i just took photos at moments of lapse, and she's been helping throughout the project...but never been in any photos, so i sorted that!
Last few things involved moving wiring and tidying around the engine bay...and then it went dark and started raining. Got dizzy on and linkage sorted etc.
More to come still tomorrow!

its the external porous mod instead of the sleeve. works easier doing it that way than sleeving as its simpler to press a alloy bar into the oil way and go exteranl with banjo's and hose.
i didnt get chance to see my mate with the head to see if he could get me the fittings before chrex had the motor off me, but im working on it
you could of kept the rocker/cambelt cover cleaner...even though needs painting still

What's all needed for it to run on the carbs except the inlet matey? I have r1 tb's, so they are no good without management I don't think, so I'm on the hunt for carbs

eck, i've u2u'd you a link to a dizzy you will need. you will also need a dizzy cap off a 1 litre pug 205. And you will need an ignition module and wiring too.

hey. was a crap day yesterday. piping didnt want to fit and logistics went up the wall.
I managed to get all but one hose connected, inlet on, alternator on and re-routed the fuel hosing to tidy it up.
Last night though when the car was collected, it still wasnt running and i really had a crap night (having to get train and organise a tow for this morning).
This morning it was meant to be done at 10, but when i went to get it...they hadnt even turned up to open the garage. My stomach is turning over as it is without having to wait longer.
Am hoping i can get a pipe that fits on the coolant outlet on the inlet manifold, and get it running today then.
Am really fed up and i'm starting to lose my cool with it all.

adam will be chuffed to hear that!
well i got the exhaust done, although it remains to be seen if it blows or not...
then when i got back i managed to get various other little bits sorted, finally get the engine in and attempt to make it turn over. Still...it wasnt to be.
It seems to have a refusal to fire, and i have a feeling its down to ignition timing and the fact that the spark plugs are not in the best of health. Still...progress appeared to have been made and i certainly hope to get it going tomorrow...else it will put me over the edge.
It really has been a crap week...and i am hoping that tomorrow will be the good ending to it all.
p.s. anyone interested in buying and XE corsa??

okay...its running now. Had a problem wit the oil pump relief valve, but a new pump and the problem is sorted. (thanks to phil for coming and swapping that for me!)
However, in the long list of things, i took it for a drive...and the front right bearing in the 'new' hubs is hammered, so i am gonna have to replace that tomorrow. Is going to a decent garage to get done, as i am on the verge of setting fire to it.
So yea...runs, drives...sounds a fucking beast and i cant drive it! Woo!!
Hoping this is it now...
