picked up some front brake pads as mine have been squealing since i bought it in march 
pagid ones. good enough for porsche, good enough for me.
bargain at £20.58 aswell. eurocarparts 
hopefully get them fitted this weekend along with the front springs, which i've been putting off because it's a ballache of a job.

Fitted pads today (fronts only) and the ones we removed didn't look too bad.
Tested them round the block and still have squealing brakes 
Looked at the rears and they have loads of life left also, so i'm a bit unsure where this squealing is coming from.

Did you grease back of pads? They squeal normally when they aren't up to temp

The brakes were cold so that could be why. May take them for a proper warm up down a 70mph road.
No rust on the discs sean, they were like new.

My brakes never squeak, hot, cold, rain etc. I have never had squeaky brakes whether it be standard pads or track pads. So I'd say there's a problem personally.
Did you Copper Grease the back of the pads?

Theres no problem, some pads do squeal when they are cold, my 1144's were terrible for it.
Obviously if they still squeal when hot then there could be a problem

Its not really to do with cheap, its to do with operating temperatures, cheap pads are more likely to squeal when they get hot, as they generally have lower operating temperatures, that doesnt mean expensive pads wont but they usually have a higher operating temperature, especially if they are performance orientated.
Both wont necessarily squeal at all, but if they do its nearly always because they are outside the operating temperatures, or less likely that the pad backings need greasing, or the anti squeal clips are missing

Don't think Pagid pads need to be greased, they've got that 3m backing stuff on them!

pagid pads are the pads of choice for porsche, so i very much doubt they're 'cheap' as you say.
they definitely don't squeal as much as the older pads did.
we didn't grease the backs of the pads at all btw, unsure if it needed it.

this was going to be done today as had them in the boot, but i pulled up at my dads house only to remember that my spring compressors had been left in my garage

I actually wrote cheap pads just to bait Steve by saying Mintex pads are cheap pads.
But please be serious Ben, there are many types of Pagid pads, the ones on a Porsche are not from Euro Car Parts. I have Pagids on my car, and they're not a ECP special.

Exactly Pagid will do many variations on pad compounds, priced accordingly.
I would expect quality control to be the same across the range though however the Porsche statement is a little naive.

For road use they are fine and were recommended for my car.
There were 'eicher' pads which were even cheaper.
You meed to remember this isn't a race car. This is a daily driver that spends the majority of it's time cruising in 6th gear at 70mph (unless i'm running late for work).

Yeah Graham is correct, he didn't say anything about it being a race car - just pointing out how your statement regarding the pads being used on porsches is abit silly.
edit - project thread looks good, whats the latest state of play on them wheels Ben? do you plan to do anything to them/replace them or stick with it?

just bought some rear pads aswell to make sure it isn't them. definitely sounds like it comes from the front though.
wheels are staying as they are for now. i could just spray over them for the time being, it's just a case of getting some free time to do so, as there's only a couple of small marks on them.
