the last corner needs to be taken in 3rd, brake just before the 50m sign then turn in late, then take a very late apex.
where the 'apex' is depends on the line your using through the corner, if your using the geometric apex then thats not the fastest way round the corner.

the car doesnt turn in as well in 3rd.... in my opinion
I tried it a few time in 3rd (not dropping to 2nd at all) and just didnt 'feel' right

obviously the best line to use through a corner will depend on what comes after the corner, if its another set of corners you take the line which sets you up best for the corners after.. if its a straight then you want to be accelerating asap to get a higher straight speed.
the line you want to use for the last corner looks quite alot like this

thats the line I take, deep entry, late apex - maxes time on the power/speed up the straight.
I'm down in second off for turn in, but in 3rd by the apex flat out.
If you are a bit too hot its easy enough to just lift to bring the nose back in for the exit kerb.
The corner that loses me all my time I think is the tight right hander at the end of the tunel

a lot will also depend on your gearing though

i take the tight corner after the tunnel like above but not quite as late an apex and just let it run wide on the left hander.
a bit like this

id say I turn in later to give me a wider aproach to the left, change into 3rd just before clipping the kerb for the left.
often get big slides on if I take too much kerb

I'm using 149, might need to move it up 1 more for the race though for slipstreaming

Im using the 143 as well, think ill have to up it like you say to 149, as its just about topping out by the end of the straight.
Mind u, going by normal standards, i wont ever be behind anyone for long enough to worry!

Bit of a rubbish pic, but this is pretty much how I take the last corner:

Don't ask me where the rest of the track went, I'm not quite sure how I moved it and it won't come back
Transmission definitely needs to be 149.
I won't be practicing this tonight I don't think. Realised last night that today is the last day to finish the second set of seasonal races and I haven't done the NASCAR one yet

i'm a bit more like this... (on the race we we did you'd pass me on the inside, but then i'd have better speed up the straight)

I'd say you want to try to take a line more like AK / Chris' suggestion ... any corner with a long straight after it needs to be exited as fast as you can, so you can carry that speed onto the next section. e.g. exiting slower out of that one corner, could impact your time for the entire length of that next straight. So even if you lost a small fraction in the bend itself by doing Chris' line - you should gain it back plus more on the straight.
The other advantage is that in the race, if you can exit that faster, you'll have more of a chance of getting an overtake down that straight.

and in a racing situation you are leaving the door open for someone to nudge up the inside, then block you back out / thus slowing you down and negating any advantage of taking that line.
