Dave, it has a rusty bonnet, get over it ffs! My van is form over function, its more about the looks than performance, where is your and others are the opposite. If i'd have painted it black, or covered it in leather would anything have been said? No is probably the answer, but because its rusted i get told i've ruined my van. Whats the difference? Its only a colour and effect? Rant over!

Willay, i'd have got the beam shot blasted and powder coated, but with Modified Nationals show this weekend (i'm attending both days) and my MOT due next week i didn't have the time nor money to get it done. But who knows, once all that and PVS is out of the way i might get it done!

Just off for a shower now as i'm filthy, i'll get pics and update not the new beam is in place in a mo...

Update 20/5/08

Managed to get my grubby new beam back in today! Didn't have my trusty assistant Jack with me today, so was all done by me. All bolts came out ok, and none were seized which really surprised me! Anyway here's some progress pics!

Jacked the van up and got it on some axle stands....

Gave all the nuts/bolts that were being taken off a blast in WD40....

Undid the brake flexi hoses and put them in a spare bottle to catch the brake fluid, took the springs out, took the shocks off the beam....

Removed the beam.....

The offending crack

Gave the shocks a quick clean.....

Got the new beam in place....

Put some copper grease on the bolts...

Bolted the beam on and bolted the rear hubs back on....

Bled the brakes, checked everything was ok and tight, and lowered it off the axle stands. Done!

Fair play mate as someone has obviously pointed out it is your car - I only made my comment because so far the standard of your car is very high and was suprised to see the replacement beam fitted in that condition. I completely understand now if you want to get it sorted quickly for MOT/PVS! Cheers.

Think I'll come round and do your boot false floor and swiftly leave with your wheels and you'll find your car adorned with some cav gsi rims

Nice work with the rear beam. That's some crack in the original one!
