Got a new saddle recently so I spent a bit of time fiddling round to get it fitted without losing my positioning on the bike. Really pleased with the result as it's comfy and saves the old gooch.

The weather has been rubbish here all week so I set the bike up on my turbo trainer. Roll forward to today, the sun was shining and I couldn't be bothered to change the rear wheel. I put on some music and rode for an hour, it's far less boring than I imagined it would be.

Pop, download yourself some Sufferfest videos and some of the vids on youtube and set up a screen in front. The time flies by when riding to them.

Thought I'd mention nextdaytyres.com
I gave them a try the other day. Cheaper than all the bigger boys like crc etc. Ordered about 5pm landed the next day before 12!

Smarts like hell! Cracked a few ribs and badly bruised my shoulder, collarbone and arm lol.
Nextday tyres are spot on, very well priced and fast to deliver.

So, getting sick of my backpack weighing quite literally a tonne. So I wondered if any of you lot carry much on the bike rather than in your pack.

I don't have anything on the bike, all in my back pack. what are you carrying with you?
XC bike:
water in bottle cage
in jersey pocket:
tube
co2
multitool
chain link
energy bar or 2
on road bike, pretty much as above
on the mtb when I go somewhere ill take camel back with juice, few more tools and more food. its never that heavy.
When I ride the road bike to and from work I use a saddle pouch for the tools and spares, then pump on the bottle cage, lights, if its wet mud guards and then spare clothes and lunch in my back pack. that's the most loaded up I ever get

Well I had a ride out yesterday with a slightly different set up. I put a bottle cage on with a bracket for a mini pump and two co2s. Then in a bottle I have zip ties, tape, spare hanger, split link and a little spare chain, pliers, multi tool, tube, and a third co2.
In my camelpack I had my waterproof, fluids and food. It was quite funny as in the carpark I was mocked like fuck! But after a nearly seven hour epic round the lakes nearly every one of them had borrowed/used something. Plus as we got round the backpack got lighter obviously. I also felt the bike handled better with the weight being lower down. Down side is I look like a twat apparently.
Road bike I just use a saddlebag.

Need some road bike advice please! Thinking of getting rid of my Planet X XLS 105 cyclocross and replacing it with a proper road bike, as I never go off road anywhere. What would people recommend I look at? I'd like it to have a carbon frame, Ultegra, a generally decent spec, but I don't want to spend a fortune, maybe £1000 on top of what I could get for my Planet X?

Went for a cycle round kielder with the girlfriend today seeing as it was nice weather. 25 miles and I was dead. Wasn't even massive climbs or rough terrain. Pretty much all well manicured forest path, and I'm dead. Must get out more and get fitter. Enjoyed the ride though was very Renault scenic

apidura bike packing kit is what you want - superb, and ultra light
I use the saddle bag and it folds right down like in this photo of my old bike ...or it rolls right out at the top and can be used for a weekends touring

Found some fox ones that are cool but they are bloody expensive. Suppose pay it and don't get soaking. 3/4 enduras Jim or you just have regular ones?
