Even my Derv Octavia vRS has launch control. Don't get too excited!!! TC off. Into Sport or Tiptronic mode. Left foot on brake. Floor throttle and it will hold 3200rpm. Release brake.....

The ECU keeps track of LC usage too!

Car looks nice Nick. Pity the silly cheap lease deals mean that there are also loads of chavvy dickheads driving them too. Loads in Manchester.

That's ok, complete helmets drive every type of car. I won't let it get to me. I've seen 1 round here, and that was at the vw garage, a red 5 door one.

I find launch control a bit weird really. The only time you see it used is people filiming it on the Internet. Taken a special trip to a certain bit of road to show something their car can do, but in some weird situation that they have setup to perform it.

Impressive but a bit gimmicky.

I'd like to do it off the traffic lights on the A4 next to some Audi TDI driver who thinks he's all that on my morning commute to work.

In 3 years ownership I've never used it, although I don't drive it much these days. Used the paddles the day I got it and never since too!

If you launch it 10 times in a row and your clutch fucks I doubt they will cover it.

be fine. it talks about the heated seats in the manual also, and I'm sure if i use them 10 times and they break they will cover it. so will be the same.

anyway, jokes aside

really did enjoy giving it a drive tonight. really quite a planted little car. handling and grip are awesome. power/acceleration is more than enough for normal roads, brakes are immense and its incredibly comfy.

only comment i can think of is connecting my iPhone to the nav media screen seems to need a different cable than the one that is supplied with the car. i can bluetooth the music, however i can only change tracks within the album i have selected on the phone, can't search through the other albums.

allegedly my ex-vw mechanic mate (he is actually that, just works at a vw specialist now) says there are different types of cables so may need a new one. will google for some info. mine is just a blank usb cable, which I'm plugging the lightning cable in to. i thought this would work. should perhaps do a steve and give the car back to the dealer?

Nice car Nick, bonkers that you get supercar performance out of hatchbacks these days. That's a good thing though!

Re:launch control, I had it in my M3. Used it a few times, fantastic fun. "Destroyed" [/internet] some wannabe gangster in an X5 once with it. True stroy

That's kind of why I bought it. It's still a practical hatch back yet will kick the shit out of a lot of cars. Also not too in your face with styling. Subtle and pleasant looking.

on the VW's LC will not affect warranty otherwise it would state the terms in the manual

The fact they actually instruct you how to do this means they have designed the box and engine to cope

Its probably safer to use LC then trying to launch the car yourself
