Free air flow modification! Will give that a go until I buy a proper intake.

going through choices for air intakes for the golf

this is the apr one, looks well in its carbon

and thats the vw racing 600 intake. looks very factory and gem really. which is cool, but i am very undecided. both seem to produce similar sort of power gains, similar kinds of money involved in buying either of them, £350-400.

if I'm going to get an apr map, perhaps i should go for the apr carbon filter as well.

there are a couple of other options available however i personally like the look of these ones the most.

Debatable as I think it looks a bit out of place with the rest of the stuff. There isn't much else available in carbon for them.

Town driving mpg isn't too bad, I'm using the stop start, not sure if that makes it better or not. I've seen just short of 40mpg on a 35 mile.

Been playing with the driving mode settings and set up individual mode, everything pretty much in Eco apart from the steering which is set in race mode. Seems ideal for regular driving.

Should say the mpg is still going up.

Honestly, drill the airbox and fit a K&N panel filter.

No turbo gauge? My old Saab has a turbo gauge.

Will it go off the clock like a redtop cavalier sri would?

Yes they do 201mph

Sadly no turbo gauge no. There is one you can get for the air vent. Will find a pic. Has to be imported from America I think.

Would probably get the multi gauge one. They do one so it lights up like the colours of the dash on the golf r. Looks alright and quite neat.

Why do people feel the need to add extra gauges you don't really need, corrado guys add volt gauges and some other one, my car is 21yrs old and never needed them.

Im with 3cm on this, a lot of people in fiesta STs have similar type gauge vents.

I struggle to see the point in bothering to fit them

First mod. Changed the 12v blanking plug for the posher looking Audi one instead of the black plastic one. Matches the interior better.
