No. The engine is the B16B 1.6, 185ps. Also car was 96+
quote: 81 - 99 civic 1.6 VTI (same engine) (b16a b16c 1.6 dohc vtec) 168bhp STANDARD
B16A1 - UK 150hp - 90-91 Civic & CRX VT. Jap spec was 160ps iirc.
B16A2 - UK 158hp - 92-00 Civic & CRX VTI. Jap spec was 170ps.
quote: 95 JDM civic VTI (d16z4 sohc 1.6 vtec 130bhp)
Japanese Honda engines don't have a number after the original engine code. Also the engine was a 1.5 D15B, 3 stage vtec.
quote: 98 civic 1.5 LSI (sohc vtec 115bhp)
Available from 96. Also it's 1.5i LS.
quote: 94 civic 1.5 ESI (sohc vtec d16z4 125bhp)
Available from92. ESI is a 1.6.
quote: 98 civic 1.4 LS (sohc None vtec 98bhp)
again 96 on. IIRC it's 1.4i. About 90hp I think.

PMSL... who reckons the new Type-R's have 202bhp 200ps or as l33t said... 197bhp... JDM's have 212bhp (215ps) due to using 100ron as std.

Actually the Type S is a 5 door 'sporty' model... it has the same engine but is detuned to 160bhp...
The Sport is what u r thinkin of... has same front back and sides but no spoiler and has 16s as u said but it has a 1.6 not a 2 litre

It mentions 167bhp AND 185bhp for the 1.6 CTR power figures.
Civic Type R EK is definately not 167hp. That's about the same as the Jap spec SIR (VTI in UK) engine, and the Type R engine is different.

Yeah but its not a 100 x better car is it. Its just a Rover 25 with a body kit. Would sooner have a civic

Yeah fair enough its ur choice but a Civic is hardly a shit car and u wil lose three grand more on a mg cos everyone has got one and its likely to fuck up cos its rover based
But its ur decision mate and if u like it then fair enough

weren't they 158bhp?
The UK spec EG6 vti had 158 and the import SIR-II had 167

The Ek's Type R's have 185ps, as listed above. They were only available as an import in this country.

185 PS = 182.45 BHP, I may be wrong but I still believe them to be more.

PS is more than HP. Example - new EP Civic Type R is 200ps or 197hp.
