£20k working a basic week, I'm on price work at the moment though and I'll be getting £4k between 2 of us for 3 weeks work. That's working 10-12 hour days +weekends though.
I'm seeing my boss tomorrow about becoming a non-working foreman on some big contracts we have in, more money and I won't be on tools anymore.
I'm a 23yr old time served joiner btw.

i'm 21, earning just under £16k.
been with them for nearly 2years, started fire testing, now security testing. fairly varied and interesting, but doesn't quite keep my mind active enough.
could do something else and earn more money, but it's just up the road from my house so i sacrifice some pay for convenience.

Some people are on real shit money!!!
I know mine was shit while I was an apprentice but my basic is £10 an hour now and there is so much scope to earn much much more through overtime/price work/foreigners etc.
Glad I didn't spend 5 years getting A-levels and a pointless degree anyway!

I normally have a relatively easy time of it at work, its very laid back, no stress, never get in trouble or anything but it is a pretty exceptional firm, 100% different to my last one.
I'm working like a cnut at the mo though, as soon as we get this job finished I get my half of the £4000, I have plans for that money already!

Why would people lie? Everyone I know leaving my course this year (who's got a job lined up) is in that range or above...
ahem, doing what exactly? i had a graduate working for me recently and all she was good for was making the tea. I would have been better off hiring a year one ONC student
Sorry but there's graduates and there's graduates. I've done a Masters in Electronic Eng & Computer Science. Mates have been headhunted for management consultancy, IT analysts, electronic design jobs, etc... Sorry but what do you want me to do -- scan my contract?
It all depends on the uni, the course & the company you're working for... I can understand if a 'graduate' of some shitty course was only good for making the tea, but more vocational courses are different.
So -- why would people lie about their salary? If I was going to lie, I wouldn't say something as low at 30k
