Really??? Hmmmm well it must be ex rally then because everywhere ive checked says Feb 92........
The production of the Escort Cosworth started on the 19th of February 1992.
The Escort RS Cosworth was Ford's new rallycar and was much more successful at it than it's earlier brothers; the Sierra Cosworth in two and four wheel drive versions. The total count of victories came to 8 in group A, and after the modifications that were made to the car to make it a WRC car, it scored two more victories.
In 1994, after the 2500 cars required for homologation were produced Ford put a "new", more civilized engine into the Escort Cosworth. The new engine is basically the same old engine in a new package. It has smaller turbo (Garrett T25) and another engine management system. This lead to more low-rew punch, but less boost available above 5500rpm. The new Escort RS Cosworth was produced until early in 1996 when EU put a new set of noise regulations for cars to work, and the Escort Cosworth couldn't pass those without modifications. For some reason Ford then decided to stop the production instead of changing the car so it would be within the new noise regulations. And that was the end to the Escort RS Cosworth. The last car rolled out of the factory on the 12th of January 1996.
I would want a production car!!

Just aim to get a 92/93K reg big turbo just means you dont have to be pissing around with changing the turbo when you start tunning.
Also big turbos tend to hold their value better and look damn fine in Aubergine. Only problem is most of them have been molestered and finding a mint low miles one is somewhat hard. Also i would say they are quite high maintainance cars which do need 'rebulding as and when you can afford them' i quote from a mate of mine who builds these for megga £££

Its more than just the turbo you need to change to get to big turbo spec. Management needs to go also etc...
The guy with the red escos off here that had luckyb's corsa had Raceline RL-7's IIRC.....

later ones are small turbo.
tell the difference as only the large turbos had the whale tail
they all had whale tails , you had to pay ford extra to buy them without the whail tail
This is correct £1837 to have an Escort Cosworth delivered without the "tail"

Also the very last small turbos were loaded up with loads of "extras" for no extra cost, to get rid, so full LUX, air-con, and no spoiler was most common on the very last ones. I know an auraulis blue one near me owned by a real pensioner which falls into this categroy...
Apart from an EsCos, the only other totally standard car I'd drive would be an Integrale EVO, or a V6 Clio... or a Ferrari LOL

Im not really too bothered about leather to be honest....is it heated leather???
Air cons a bonus but saps power and is costly if it needs fixed!
I like nice Standard fast cars the best with maybe a couple mods - wheels etc We all cant like the same

Leather is not heated, but IMO the leather makes the interior a LOT nicer!

Early big turbo cos is more of a drivers car, laggy but when the turbo comes in you know about it!! Small turbo are nice too but they dont feel as powerful.
Lux models came with leather, air con, pop our rear quarter windows, lecky sunroof and couple of other minor things.
You think now you wont want to up the power but some time down the line i'm sure you will, i'm upto 350bhp and going for 400bhp later in the year.
They dont break every month, there much like any other high performance car they need looking after with regular servicing etc, but the parts arent double the price of jap stuff.

People say a standard EsCos (Bigturb) is laggy... IMO its not really.....
Stick a prehistoric T4 on it and it will be LOL
Reckon my corsa is more laggy than a standard escos... you just learn to drive with it and use the gears. No big deal!

Exactley, I dont really think it has alot of lag mines a big turbo T35, as you say a T4 is what bloody lag is all about!!! and you can even learn to drive them to your advantage
