yes, the 0-60 might be good due to gearing, but the engines are still very weak compared to something that is twice its age. in gear times for a GSi/Sport are better than a ZS by a fair bit. 0-60 isnt a true test of a cars straight line performance

well as much as i miss my corsa im glad i moved onto a zetec-s. to be honest my sport was slightly played with and when it was sold was running better than ever, but the fiesta seems to have the edge over it after about 40/50mph. seem to pull better through the revs and is definately smoother.
handling was top notch for a standard car too but ive had ford racing suspension on mine for about 6 weeks now and its better still. feels more solid to drive too
so coming from someone who has owned both 1.4 sport and zetec-s i would say my fiesta has the edge.
and im not just saying that cos i own one as when i bought it i wasnt interested in having something quicker than my old corsa, just something newer and nicer than it
my 2ps worth

PMSL zetec-s's are one of the slowest 1.6 16v hatchs on the road. The corsa sport is pretty naff performance wise but the fiesta is even worse!!!

no, i dont race, i ve past that level of immaturity. If i want to race i d go to a track.
But racing my car would be a hole lot more fun than a 1.6 corsa!!

Vectras should stay on the motorway where they belong, i couldnt think of anything more boring than a vectra on a track

Not been in many 1.6 gsi's/sports only my 1.4 sport.
I drove Adioheads zetecs, and it was noticably faster than mine. Both had airfilters as only mod. It has 200cc's more and weight difference would be negligable so do the maths.
This is the oldest and most silly debate in the world.

I think the Zetec-S is a great car. I bought my missus one about 6 months ago. Not for speed cos she isnt interested in going fast (she can drive mine anytime she fancies!), but it is a solid, well built, reliable, safe and good looking car! Handles great as well, I love driving it (used it myself for work today as it happens!)

OK, so from the above comments you were talking hypothetically. If you dont race/drive enthusiastically on road OR track why have you 'tuned' your Vectra? Or are the figures you have quoted hypothetical as well?
Not getting into the bollocks about 'read what I said' etc etc crap! You came on here thinking you were the dogs danglies in your Vectra and your not! It was a discussion on different cars performance, not 'my dads bigger than your dad'
If you tell me you have never sped on the road then you are talking through your arse, everyone does but there is a time and a place!! I would rather be on a track but at the moment thats a once every few month luxury!

racing and driving enthusiasticlly are two very different things. I do occasionally speed, i ll be the 1st to admit that.
I 'tune' my vectra because i have a keen interest in cars and i enjoy learning how to improve them as i want to push my understanding of engines etc further.
Also i have done this to improve upon its performance!
I havent come here thinking i m the dogs danglies, i ve just pointed out that racing slow lower power cars is both pointless and stupid.
Thats why there is such a stigma about modified cars and the boy racer image.
Admittedly (sp) my 1st ill spelt comment was some what tittish but hey!
