i want an XEV now, they look so tidy and slightly more compact, maybe thats because of the non - 'L' shaped plug cover. proper

xe will and always has run better with a std airbox, its a fact of xe ownership. you really want to keave the std box on but with uprated panel filter

with an air filter on, the engine tends to do what they call kangaroo style driving down low revs and back off the throttle low down, hence a lot of people do the rocker cover vent mod. ed's is the future if i was ever to build another

its like the age old debate on an xe about powercaps. i refuse, categorically refuse to belive a power cap is better than the std sfi box.

if it was me, my xe corsa or nova would have std air box and a full size sfi box,

there is a difference between it being written ona box it comes in and i actually making a difference.

it is supposed to give you more bhp but end up with less tourque

Biggest problem i can see with x20xev engines are one immobilixzer and two you will have to run the cat for mots.

Mounts driveshafts etc are all the same!

Also a lot of x20xevs came with the f18 hydraulic which is a piss poor box but the f16/f20 will bolt straight on!

main probs with the X20XEV is crankshaft and camshaft and egr sensors. the management is wank poor, and exhaust manifolds r prone for cracking.

rip out all sensors run tb, with aftermarket management, differnet exhaust manifold and few bits n bobs ur laughing. good engines-wank electronics

'Running better' isn't proved by power output of an engine though.

The same way you do with all Ecotec engines I would imagine. Use the immobiliser chip, ingnition ring and ECU from the donor car...

do u really think an MOT garage would be able to tell a XE from a XEV? i dont, therefore you wont need a Cat!
