the mot before i sold it came to 863 quid

sorry im probably putting the lad off one now

HOW MUCH!!!!!! what did you do to it

in all honesty it was my fault.... i broke a gear linkage... needed 4 new tyres, pads disc's... bearings went, suspension issues (nothing too serious).... i hammered the car, but it was worth it.... the mot is the reason i sold it to be honest, but i will admit, i miss that car everyday.... i have an import mr2 turbo now, and thats not as much fun as the 106..... which is for sale now to make way for a saxo vts

get one mate.... amazing cars... u2u me with any questions you have about them if you want

nice one mate cheers

if you can find one in decent nick for not too much wedge id have the lupo hands down!

shut up, is it shite ... 7.4 for the 106

i think youll find its 8.4 for the pug!!! and 8.0 for the lupo!

Oh I see, because it says so on parkers it must be true Parkers don't even test the cars for the stats.

Mags like Evo magazine test the cars which make up their official figures and they found 7.4 (why would VTS official stat on parkers be quicker than a Gti? same car)

It does make me chuckle how someone who hasn't driven either of the cars believes they are 100% right compared to some people who have driven both.

If the Gti 0-60 was 8.4 there'd be no way in hell I'd be able to do a 15.3 1/4 mile.

Basically it comes down to this

Lupo Gti = Better built, nicer dash, more modern.
Lupo Gti = Heavier, Slightly Slower, due to heaviness not as good handling, More Expensive.

106 Gti = Quicker acceleration, Better handling, more engine tuning parts available for cheap / respond well to just breathing mods
106 Gti = Flimsy, dated dash, getting old - but cheaper because.

so in the same respect because evo mag says so it must be true???

if you're a parker freak you deserve a slap! listen to what they're saying! parkers just have publish times, it was tiemd with full luggage.. its the same as teh vts and IS 0-60 in 7.4! the lupo standard will NEVER beat it!

i never said i beleived parkers to be 100% accurate did i???
i was simply putting what parkers said!!!

Ok simple maths here.

106 gti - standard power 120 bhp (though most were around 130 bhp) - weight 900 ish kg

Lupo Gti - 125 bhp, weight - 1015kg

Also if lupo gti is quicker why is its insurance group 11, compared to gti / vts's 13/ 14 group?

insurance group ISNT based solely on performance

I would have a Lupo though. they are cute and fast little feckers that will go on and on without rattling like a babys plaything

Which I agreed on - as an everyday car. Nicer dash too - girls are more likely to be impressed with the lupo Gti. Where as Non car people like my uni mates, see my 106 gti as nothing more than a 1998 106 with a body kit on Fuckers.

cams should be around £320-£400 depending on what you get.

I got them for a bargain £250.

Remap is £475 @ jamsport (done by wayne schofield from chipwizards)

for you guys though it may be better to go direct to wayne's HQ.

It's cheaper if you go direct to wayne. Jamsport add costs for paying for wayne to travel and using their rollers etc. It used to be cheaper though like £400 but they keep upping their prices, which is fair enough as wayne is one of the best

He's constantly getting excellent smooth graphs, with good torque figures and 158-162 bhp on cat cam 708's / kent pt51's. He also sorts it so it idles perfectly fine and the engine runs efficently when not being gunned

Well I'll decide whether its a good job when I get my car back

To be fair my timing seems well out at the moment on my car, possibly even wearing away cams at the moment or something gay. so I wouldn't be suprised if it only made 150 bhp

I got 15.3 with just exhaust + filter.

Since then I've got a 4-2-1 mani

so that with the cams and remap should hopefully get high 14's

The problem is - once cams are in I know I'm gonna want a Quaife LSD (ATB).

Help get that power down.

Then after that some TB's would be nice not gonna happen though.

Pff - I'd prefere a LSD to a Ported TB and stage 3 head. I've seen people not get brilliant gains from head work / ported TB, maybe 5 bhp if your lucky?

the head is pretty good as it is. Plus the standard injectors are only really good for about 160-165 bhp.

However LSD, definately awesome get the power down better and when you take a corner fast you boot it and the car sucks you round the corner rather than understeering out wide.

My mate has a cammed gti and a LSD and says the LSD was the best thing he's bought.
