Im gonna stock it slowly, it would kill the fish if i put them all in there straight away cos the filters just wouldnt cope. Im bringing one of the filters from the pond in hereford which has been established for a while now, but not sure how it will cope with the 2 hour journey from hereford to aberystwyth. Got some bacteria boost to help it though, and will start off with some of the smaller fish, maybe one big one Also got a water testing kit on the way for testing ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, dissolved oxygen and ph.

keep it wet and it should be fine, dont use non-treated water on it though as will kill off the bacteria. Ive taken filters a couple fo hours away before and all been fine.

Either side of the bit of earth sticking out, where the steel rods come down from the sleepers. Theres gonna be earth for about 8" on the pond side, plus the weight of the water pushing against it too. Just stopped for another tea break, got another 14 wheelbarrow loads out, ill have to get a pic of the top end of the garden where we;ve put all the earth - it was a steep bank going to an overgrown bit but we've created an island of earth going out there now

How far up the sleepers will the water come?
Good progress

Probably about 3 or 4 inches from the top. Hoping to get the liner in tonight and then fill it tomorrow when the foundations are set, we've cut the sleepers for the other wall now so got to dig the holes for the foundations and mix up some more concrete. Better get back to it anyway, got my cup of tea now

2 parts sand and 2 parts aggregate (didnt order enough aggregate so making it up from the ton of sand we have sitting on the drive ) and some water, hired a cement mixer to help (only £26 for a week and will save sooo much time as we found out on the last pond build). Right, back to work for me anyway, will update this eveining with more recent pics

Finished digging the hole! Put a layer of sand in too to get rid of the sharp edges...
Also started digging out the stream, we're going to hide the two pumped feeds to the top pool under it, and the larger diameter return feed for returning the water bypassing the stream itself in the winter.
Got the underlay in...
Put the liner in, and it wasnt big enough! After a few minutes of thinking how stupid i was for ordering the wrong size, we measured the actual liner iteself and it was 5m x 5m, we ordered 7.5m x 6.5m! Rang them up but theres nothing they can do till monday, so will be tuesday delivery at the earliest now Was hoping to get the first of the fish in there this evening!
Ah well, still got the top pool to do, and the electrics i guess so got something to keep us busy, only thing is i go back to uni on wednesday so wont have as much free time

Yes mate, nowhere near the same size but it's going to be full of plants mainly to help the nitrite levels for the koi, give the stream a more natural look and be another nice area to be around cos thats where the BBQ area is

I really should get some images of our ponds etc.. Think u'd like it.
Love those pictures as well actually.... We've justr finished our stage 1 TV setup as well and need some pictures to cover the room the old TV has left... Have you got any more information on them, web links, company name etc? (Oh, cost would be good too).
Wasn't you the guy that built a pond not long ago in another house?
