although back to the original topic rottweilers can be very very nice soft dogs.

good allrounder if you keep them fit. They seem to pile weight on about 5

Have you ever had a rottie They will only turn vicious if they have been brought up like that, they WILL NOT attack without reason.

What you lot need to understand is that dogs we all know have been bred for certain character traits over the centuries.

You have you toy dogs for affection...selective breeding of the 'tame' breeds has resulted in some very tame dogs.

However, other breeds (rotties included) have been bred for their aggressive traits over a long period of time.

People are trying to now make these breeds 'domesticated'..it wont work 100% of the time, because its the nature of the dogs breeding.

i always thought rotties was bread as guard dogs if you say its because of the size difference then great dains should be musseled too .yes they have been bred to fight but they re born with a brain they are not machines and its not like its programmed into them.why are jack russels so vicious then? they have been bred to catch rats and stuf not to fight other dogs.

the rottie was bred to be a working i.e pulling hearding etc dog that was left in the fields at night along side the livestock at night to keep wolves away at night when in germany
the romans then used them to go into battle by running into people knocking them down the the roman guy killing guy when on the deck

i have 2 of these and an 11 week old daughter and as said before by some of the others even though i know they would never hurt her i dont leave them in room with her if someone isnt there same with misses 2 cats baskets etc can easily be knocked over again hurtin wee one

most owners of rotties will say they are big softies

yeah every breed was bred for a reason. Many years ago dogs such as the shar pei, pitbull, mastiffs, and even the boxer was bred for fighting. But lter on dog fighting became illegal.

Most of the breeds went on to guarding so have a guarding instinct. Rotties, boxers, gsh etc.

Pitbulls are banned in the uk already, but in america they still might have a strong instinct for fighting becasue in america they are still fighting them.

Any dog can bite, any, i bet there is alot more reports of small dogs biting then big dogs.

It doesnt make the news as a jack russel biting someone doesnt make so much big news then if a rottie was to.
