ARSENAL boss Arsene Wenger wants Obafemi Martins to replace Thierry Henry.

The Nigerian striker, 22, has a £13million buy-out clause in his Newcastle contract.

Gunners boss Wenger has £16m from skipper Henry’s Barcelona switch to play with and a swoop for the 17-goal Toon ace would give him further room for manoeuvre in the transfer market.

St James’ Park chief Sam Allardyce has met with Martins to discuss the hitman’s future after he refused to play against Watford in the final game of last season.

Big Sam wants Martins to stay but knows he might ask to leave if a club of Arsenal’s stature makes a formal offer.

So far, the Gunners have not tabled an official bid but Wenger has set the wheels in motion and Martins’ advisors are aware of the interest from the Emirates.

I be happy to let him go for £13M in all honesty, dont get me wrong I like the lad, and he certainly knows how to kick a ball. However he cant' dribble, has no first touch and often goes in the huff if things aren't going his way. I really think Wenger could be the coach to get the best out of him, given his proven track record of working with 'rough diamonds', good luck to the lad I say.

Read today that WHU were willing to pay Tevez £115k a week to stay with them. He isnt happy though as Neil is still on a higher wage.

Im sure I had some reason to pick that number, no idea why now though

And yeah, seems Inter have been put off for some reason, as a week or so ago they said he was their main target!!

After studying Hammer's and Inter Milan's comments, I make it only 37% likely that Tevez will join Inter.

I understand that, but when losing a world class player you'd want another to fill his boots.
