Dont get me wrong there good cars but IMO

i dont think the breaks are up to much when comparing them to modern hatch's, people dont seem to think about this when talking about track times etc

All 4 of my mates have had the head gaskets go under 60k

as i said i think there good little hatch's just getting board of reading about how perfect they are

Brakes are shit, I admit, standard corsa brakes are probably better than mine at the moment. But an upgrade to 206 gti/306 gti-6 brakes and your laughing...

But I agree, all Ive had is problems with mine.. a few clutches, a gearbox, horn not working, rear windowscreen desteamer not working..

but If I didnt give it some stick I suppose I wouldnt have problems?

But what are tehy made for?

the brakes are set not very powerful to stop idiots braking heavily mid corner and spinning the cars which happens very easily with the suspension setup of the gti.

the brakes might not be good for someone who can drive well and has the instinct not to start braking heavily mid corner especially in the wet, but if you put very sensitive brakes on them the average chav boy racer would stack it the first corner they came to

peugeot would have testted the car with all setups and must have found this to be the best all round safest setup

delusional I think

point of a daily is it's very econmical says me with a 306 Gti16

106GTi is a poor track car base, rear beam deisgn is seriously flawed

Odd that they stop the Gi quicker from 60 than a 911 with stop from 60.

Gti-6 upgrade is overkill, bang some decent pads in and your laughing.

As for braking mid corner and spinning out, that's physics and how the beam mounts on the shell.

It's similar torsion bar set up, the difference being the shafts are pressed in to the beam tube and the trailing arms have the bearing inside them, so when the bearings die it's new whole beam and 2 shafts from pug ££££

fine if you have the cash, but not if you want one re-furbed for a few hundred it's more like a thousand.

205,309 and 306 beams are all the same bar width and toe and camber angles on the trailing arms.
