I totally agree. There is actually no way of measuring what you have drunk to the limit. Everyone is different - I studied this quite a lot for my media A-level assignment.
the limit is NOTHING, .
Pints all around then.
Everyone would be complaining that it was another step towards a granny state if they put the limit to zero.

When I said nothing, I meant in Slovakia, you aren't allowed 1 trace of alcohol.

i know what you meant, but it didn't say that, it said the limit is nothing, as in a limit doesn't exist.

i think you'll find the limit is pretty low rather than zero, the human body naturally produces alcohol

Exactly why you can't measure if you'll be ok.
DON'T DRINK OR DRIVE, END OF.

It doesnt matter if you can handle drinks better, they measure the alcohol limit, you might feel perfectly fine but you may also be over the limit.
Being bigger, taller, fatter doesnt have much to do with the alcohol measured on your breath tbh.
If your driving just dont drink, simple as that.

the limit is set in mg's in breath, which is quite acurately worked out by how many units you have drunk, and again is 5 units for men and 3 for women

It's not that accurate. It's basically a guideline- if you fail the breath test you have to have the blood test to back it up. Alcohol in your breath is from where it's entered your blood and then got to your lungs and mixed back with the air as you breathe out; you can't equate it to units because 1 unit can register as different levels dependant on the person.

You're wrong. You take a test on the spot, then take another breath test back at the station. I should know, I'm one of those twats who are banned from drink driving.

It's not measured in units and it can't be converted into units. it's 80mg per 100ml of blood, that doesn't equate to units in any way.

I stand corrected, then. It still doesn't equate to units.

Yeah it's always measured in MG per 100ml of blood. But my point was you don't get a blood test.

I thought you did if they did the 2 breath tests and the results didn't match? that probably doesn't happen very often though.

so 1 unit of alcohol doesnt always contain the same amount of alcohol? u drink 5 units, within about half an hour u would have 80mg of alcgohol per 100ml of blood, its due to the amount of water the body hold and alohol not being absorbed into the muscles or seomthin

Nah. The results won't match regardless because of the time it takes to breathalyse you, then take you back to the station. Some folk get lucky and are JUST over the limit, and by the time they are at the station, they are under. That's because the test at the station is pinpoint accurate.

Yeah, you get the option. But it isn't a legal requirement.

No, of course 1 unit is the same, but 1 unit in someone with 7 litres of blood is going to be more milligrams of alcohol per millilitre of blood than it will in someone with 9 litres of blood as it will be more diluted.
