The most important thing...

993's hold their value so much better than 996's and more than likely better then the 997's. They're much rarer.

A girl at works old man has just brough a Caymen and he reckoned it was far far nicer to drive than the 911.

Bloody quick in all apparently. And to make matters worse he's put her on the insurance

nice to drive is an individuals perspective.

At times a micra is nicer to drive than my 911.

old?

what do you class as old

a 993 isnt old old, maybe 1995.

An old 930 turbo (3.0 turbo nutter arse out hairy chest machine) from the early 80's may be a tad fragile if treated wrong... but in all honesty (touch wood) i've not had a problem with mine.

Battery died once (left it connected for 6 moths without use)

and my sunroof has come off a pulley. Got the stuff to fix it just havent bothered

993 gets my vote....still my favourite '911'

IIRC servicing costs on those are nearly double a 996 though

Colin, I looked into a Cayman S. And stuck with the VX...nothing more I can say really

wheels dont need to be shoved under archs and exhausts dragging on the floor for cars to look good, people need to get over this.

it was also probably designed like that, as that was probaby the best height for handling for that car and chassis

Big gap between arch and wheel = bad.... simple as. Don't get me wrong though it's still a lovely looking car, it's just the big arches stood out to me as being a bit odd

I would class a 993 Turbo as pretty old, a '95 is 12 going on 13 years, I would imagine there would be large bills associated with owning one....maybe unless you do 500 miles in it & keep it tucked up in the shed 9 months of a year

Suspension technology was shit in the 80s, no doubt it was like that to stop the tyres scrubbing under heavy acceleration.
