sounds great, will buy this when i decide and can afford to get the lightened flywheel, never heard of the final drive before so this is great. what sort of break can you get for x14xe without spending stupid money on something like throttle bodies or a turbo, money isnt a big problem at all

Sorry to piss on your bonfire mate (no pun intended), but thats the best way to go.
I tuned a 1.6 via the aftermarket inlet route, plus everything else. Never again.
Costs more in the short term, but you'll get the best power out of it.

Ah, sorry mate, didn't keep up.
I had a p&p head on my X16Xe and it made a bit of difference. I sold minhe which i had on for 12 months for about £275 iirc. If it's cheap enough, buy it, put it on. Don't need to wait for the cams and verniers because the head doesn't have to come off to fit them.

yeah theres a ported and polished head for sale off a x16xe off scottbeck for £230 which isnt a bad price, ive u2u'd him to find out more about it etc.so this should be my next mod and another step in the rite direction. head should go well with the flow as ive got the pipercross viper, lexmaul inlet, janspeed 4-2-1 exhaust manifold and decat straight through. head should give me a nice little increase with the other mods

nothing whatsoever. on my 200 bhp 1.6 I use £15 Beru standard leads and Bosch spark plugs that cost 80p each.

Just use decent quality oe ones.
The cheaper leads can have crap sealing end boots fitted, so they dont seal around the dispak very well etc.

Joining the convo a bit down the line but on my X14XE i had a mantzel inlet, piper-x cone filter, adjustable fuel pressure regulator & straight thru centre exhaust w/custom backbox and it made 120.9bhp on the rollers. done more since so interested to see how she's going now

if you run a standard but de restricted air box you would get rid of the heat soak problem the XE lumps have, and a good 4-2-1 exhaust manifold would go nice with a power box. was going to do this to my X14XE but im saving for the let conversion. so i'll build up and tune my 14 on a engine stand when i get the let done

thats good bhp figures from what you've got Will94.
ive got a janspeed 4-2-1, pipercross viper, magnex decat straight through exhaust and a lexmaul in the post so i should be up near 110bhp hopefully. next on the list is a ported and polished head which i have one lined up, a set of cams and verniers and a lightened flywheel and to finish it off is a unichip and remap with a raised rev limit to 7250 or 7500 not decided on that one yet, and arp bolts for strength. should see some good gains there i reckon.

should see some nice bhp when you have all that done, and having the lightened flywheel will make it feel quicker
but would advise in what dave A said by getting a final drive, this will make a very big difference.

lexmaul didnt arrive 2day hoping it will be here 2moro though
had abit of a set back, clutch was wearing awile ago and i went on and the gears started to get hard to use. we replaced the cluctch 2 days ago and put it all back together and thats fine but i dont have 1st,2nd or 4th gears. they got lost right at the end after all the gears being stiff, 4th went first, then 1st then second, does it sound like the gearbox is fucked or what??

Might just be the selector needing adjustment?

you need to adjust you selector rod, its a little fiddely to get your head around but ok once you know how. one thing tho, on your box you wont need to remove a blanking plug, as this plug has a spring on the back of it and you can just push it in to lock it in place. you'll understand when you go adjust the linkage

is it more then likely to be this rather then the gear box being fucked, how do you adjust it then??
