There's two valver novas in my town too - me and a mate scott - the only difference between out cars is that his is stripped with buckets. is funny

because he'll of been speeding, they'll pull me over, they'll think they're givingm me points, i get them to check the numberplate from cctv. PING it isn't me and im on my way

Point is, dont do anything, nothing to worry about

you cannot sell something that's illegal. take drugs, if I want to buy cocaine and keep it in a vase on my fireplace... I still can't. so no matter what the use... something illegal cannot be sold. so i guess exhaust aren't illegal.

I must remind the following to stop selling to Ferrari, Lambo, Maserati, Porsche etc.... They are aftermarket therefore illegal.

http://www.larinisystems.com/

http://www.racecar.com/companynewsstory.asp?NewsID=19450

http://www.paramount-performance.com/acatalog/Paramount_High_Performance_Exhausts.html

http://www.eisenmann.co.uk/

Just as a quick search....

U'll have more trouble with an aftermarket exhaust at a track day than you would at an MOT center

And if they test the dB of your exhaust cause its making alot of noise

What about the noise a ferrari, tvr or any other v8, v10 car?

There isn't a specified noise limit for exhausts....

Although theres taking the p1ss though. But then when u've got to that stage, usually the car sounds terrible anyway, and you look more a rodney for the BARRRRRRRRRHGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHH (up to 5mph) BARRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHH (makes 10mph) anyway. When its that loud, everyone is laughing at you.

This thread is hilarious. I wish a copper had pulled me over for an 'illegal' exhaust.

right Mr. Copper, were going back to the station to see your boss and your going to explain to him whats illegal about my fully insured aftermarket exhaust.

so if you have an aftermarket exhaust on your car, no matter if its insured for and passed mot its illegal?? i always thought that it just had to pass the polices DB level and you were fine

you maybe right about there being no law but my mate who works in Oxfordhsire health and safety knows about noise levels (he dealt with alot od complaints from parties in previous position which included cars) he said that what ever i did to my car (pre exhaust work) that i'd be fine for noise levels as the limit is stupidily high, 110dB iirc on par with a airliner taking off!!

well a mate of mine bought a barnd new evo9 fq 320

now people in the know, know that fq's are factory cars, with hks uprated parts

he's in a legal battle with the cops just now, as he only had the car 2days, fully standard exhausts system and it was deemed ilegal by the police,

imo its a lot of shite,

and If anyone notices that gets stopped its always near the end of the month,..

police deal with "boy racers" at the end of the month as they are an easy target to get the revenue and numbers up, its a bloody disgrace,

im sure anyone could work out the system

i've been stopped around 12times for noisy exhausts and its always been within 5days of the end of the month

they go out on a crusade, where all my mates get stopped, they even have the hard neck to come into the car park and test our cars when all we were doing was sitting there talking with out cars not running

its a farce, and i for one wont ever pay a fine for something that is not illegal, they can try and make me,

but my exhaust isnt and never has been stamped "not for road use" so it'll remain on there for as long as i see fit

iirc an ashley competition exhaust will be illegal for on-the-road use if it has a black tip.
