I've got a Trek 6500 but it's in bits as my brother decided to take it apart when I moved out. Keep meaning to get it built back up but never seem to get any time or have the money to do it. Needs all new cables, shifters, a deariler (sp) and a buckle taking out of the wheel.
He's now got a specialized DH bike. Can't remember which one it is just that it cost him £1700

Thinking about taking the rear 6 speed casette off and replacing it with a shimano deore 9 speed. Then chaning the front to a single chainring.

opinions?

Will require new shifters, and possible a new rear mech. That's if it has a hub with the freewheel built in, or the feewheel built into the 'gears' or 'sprocket'.

Bump

Just remembered this thread.

I want to try and get bit of a biking meet going on at Chicksands, probably some time in June when my parents are away - my missus will probably be there with video camera etc.

Should be good. I'm an early riser though, normally there by 8.30am

I've been doing 10 miles a night on mine

I'll put it up for sale this weekend and buy a decent hardtail. Maybe a GIANT one

Loads of tracks round here
Search 'sand ramps' on youtube. That place is down the road
