I wasn't aware he had the valver,
but beat in what sense?
out break, out accelerate, out handle?
as 2 out of the the gti/vts would win those

You think it would outbreak it? I felt that was one of the poorer parts of the VTS abilities!

valver on 1600 breaks yes!

wtf???
What stupid video's (Whittes / original corsa gsi vid), the 106 gti is clearly being driven shitly.
Sly_sri had a 1.6 16v Gsi, with one of those inlet manifolds, full exahust system etc... probably around 120 bhp + and my gti breezed past it standard!
That's rediculous what those vids show, just looks like the 106 gti drivers are crap, spin the wheels, hit the limiter and don't change gear

The drivers of those cars are by absolutely no means crap If however you believe you can make a Golf VR6 and a 106 GTi go around that track, and make the GTi faster... Then by all means write to BBC and tell them that RB is pish

The 2 jokes of CS...
Firstly, "a '205 Gti' is a respected, amazing handling, track worthy car... A 106 gti on the other hand isn't, despite handling just as well and being quicker than the 205 1.9 gti." - what a crock of shit. If you think a 205 gti or the original golf gti are classic cult hatches with handling, the 106 gti is just as good, but with more speed.
Second amazing myth of CS is that 'a Gti Can BEAT anything mate!" - the good old joke that because people say the 106 gti is good for what it is, people assume you're claiming it can beat ANYTHING ... and thus comparing it to a Gti-R, or whatever else.
At the end of the day, the 106 Gti should ONLY be compared to it's REAL competitors...
These were, Corsa 1.6 Gsi, Saxo VTS , Golf Gti / Vr6, and punto gt.
The 106 gti beats all of them in speed and handling.
Stop going 'Well a 2.0 16v Corsa could have it' or 'My Ibiza 225 bhp Turbo will beat one' - It's a stupid fucking comparison.
Finally, due to the handling, if driven well - it CAN show up a lot of quicker cars, and respond well to mods due to the light weight of the car. End of.
The majoirty of 'races' in twisties or on track will come down to driver ability anyway, and what they can get out of the car. Today's 'race' I had at some meet, coming down some abandoned mountain, with hair pins, corkscrews, turns left right and center, up hills and down hills... highlight this fact.
There was a Elise, Golf VR6, Hyundai 2.0 Coupe, Bmw 328, Toyota Glanza thing and Civic Type R.
I started fairly near the back, by the bottom of the mountain (About 10 miles or so of crazy twisting roads) I was at the front. Not because the 106 gti was necisarily the best, quickest, or great handling car there... but just because some people drive better than others and can carry more speed / take corners faster.
When I go out on track with pug forums, generally most 106 gti's are going around the track seriously slow! I'm wizzing round overtaking most cars out there...
Now is that because the 106 gti is fast car or I'm a better driver than the others? The reality is neither, it's just the other driver's don't push it as hard as others, or don't drive as consistantly.
Let's quit this internet squabbling and get it to the track. When the flag drops, the bullshit stops!
Bring on CS Track day and I'll show you what the 106 gti can do.
